Hi all, I have read a lot about building a Residential, Commercial, and Industrial cities and I'm still confused. If I'm build a  Industrial city, does this means that this city is exclusively filled with Industries only with neighboring residential cities? Can anyone pinpoint me to where I can read some indepth information about neighboring city and how to set it up? Thanks in advance.

First off, Welcome to Simtropolis and the Simcity World...To answer your questions, there is a lot of in depth information on zoning and neighboring cities in the Omnibus on the main toolbar. But if you want some advice from an expert, I would only put 1 or 2 small tiles of Industry and let the rest of the tile City's be a mix of commercial and residential. With a little mix of High Tech as well. But what I do for my cities is that I have the Radical Ordinance Mod from the Modds and Downloads Tab. This Modd lets you add ordinances that affect the growth of a certain zone type and also affect education and air quality and ultimately lets you put Dirty industry right Next too High Wealth homes. But if you want the game to be real life, then i don't recommend using the Mod. Hopefully this Helps some???

If you plan on making entire industrial cities, i recommend using only LARGE tiles for your region, then placing the industrial cities either checkerboard, or centralize one tile in the middle.  That way all around the industrial city, you can build C and R cities that all funnel their workers and traffic into the center of the region to work. Ive had success trying it this way.

BUt it is entirely up to you how you do it.  Let your imagination run wild.

Usually for an industrial city I would mostly have industrial tiles filled with low income homes and commercial buisnesses, now lets say you wanted to build a large city with large commercial offices, well I would zone high density $$$ residntials and commercials and fill in some minor areas with hightech lots. Another example would be an agricultural city, many farms, small areas of low and medium residential and commercial buildings in the center of a village with farms surrounding the village. Of course this doesn't have to be the case, you could do something that no one would think of... maybe high density CO$$$ offices with farms surrounding... who knows? Of course, they you will need the Radical Ordinance Mod to do this.

I did post a link to the mod right here >

Remember you can always download more buildings at the STEX too. > https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?page=1

The city is whatever you zone it to be. To create neighbour connections you just have to build a road in to the next city. Sims will travel between the cities to find work. Remember also that sims are less likely to travel distance between cities than in their own city, even if they live near the edge and would be geographically closer. Experiment too! It's the best way to learn what works best for you.
