Man fired for not wiping

While on the way home from work tonight someone had left one of those free newspapers on the seat of the train. Now I don't consider these kinds of papers terribly reliable fact-wise but if the info in it was true then I can understand why this happened the way it did.

Basically the story was that this wasn't a simple personal hygiene situation that wasn't doing anyone else any harm. The guy was apparently leaving a huge mess in the cubicle with contaminated water left all over the seat and floor, and used, soggy toilet paper all over the place. Given those facts I can quite understand other workers who had to use the toilet cubicle after him would complain over the unsanitary conditions that he'd left behind. Given that I can also understand why his boss would check the condition of the cubicle after the worker had left it to confirm he was leaving it in such a state. I would also understand that in that situation if it was confirmed he was the one responsible for the mess that he'd be asked to change his habits and to clean up his mess before he left the cubicle and not leave his problem for someone else to clean up. If he refused to comply with the reasonable OH&S requirements after receiving a warning then it would be normal practice that he'd be dismissed. Other workers should not have to put up with that.

There's always two sides to any story.

its happened in this city before (baltimore) so im not surprised. It is a common practice, not washing after standing or sitting, but its the sitting and not washing that is particularly gross.
