nice let me know :D

Good news! I managed to solve the problems, and now the elevators carry multiple people! The demo and paid version have both been updated, with people arriving to the tower at somewhat random times, instead of instantly, and some improvements on rooms (darkened rooms when there's no one there, red rooms/floor if the path is blocked). The next release will include a bulldoze tool, as well as the start of changed graphics (and hopefully the ability to click+drag to build a rectangle of floor, instead of having to move the mouse over every square)

YAY - so i got it :D so i am happy now

ok isotower has sent message as follows

Isotower

Update coming after this weekend. Changing from xml to json, and more importantly, click+drag construction for empty floor tiles. Also a bit of nifty flair when rooms get rented out. Expect it by Monday.

The IsoTower website said that there was a problem with BMT Micro. By the way, how where the graphics done? Maybe I could make extra angles of my own art if I know how you did yours. I am started to improve in blender.

Nevermind the BMT Micro problem, I got it from Google+. By the way, should you decide to go 3D, OpenGL is the way to go. It even works in 2D. Highrise Developer (I worked on it a little but it is mostly dead now) uses OpenGL and SFML.

Well, since there is not much interest in SimTower anyway, I will not start a new thread but continue here. Why don't we brainstorm ideas on what we would want in a tower simulator. Maybe like a wishlist for Yoot Tower Plugins or OpenTower/Highrise Developer/IsoTower/Tiny Tower/Tower Simulator Clone type games.

    I will start.

    1. Citizens having needs to fulfill in a complex GB type economy.

Their needs would be shelter, food, employment, entertainment, hygiene, health, retail goods, and fitness where they require transportation to get to those places or else they will leave the tower.

    2. Citizens have incomes and they can either earn their money off-site or on site. If they earn their money off site, their income will be semi random except for VIP's, which always have the highest income bracket. If they live onsite and live in high quality and high price (in Yoot Tower the price would be set to high and the eval would be blue), they will have higher incomes and will be able to afford more at shops and restaurants.

    3. Citizens have preferences on where they get their resources (food and goods).

    4. Special rooms can set the price for many of the same type of room (office reception for offices, check-in desk for hotel rooms, shopping mall/food court for shops) or increase the evaluation for rooms (office break rooms for offices, concierge for hotel rooms).

    5. Upgradeable rooms (security, housekeeping, private housekeeping/janitors, malls, check-in, concierge) where you can either build more rooms or expand your current ones for a lower price, and smaller area per workers.

    6. Hygeine is improved by public restrooms, janitors, and recycling/garbage collection. Should you be low on janitors (which handle the restroom cleaning and garbage/recycling collection), you could play a minigame for free.

    7. Self sufficiency of towers. If all of your residents live, work, shop, eat, exercise, and learn on site and food is grown in hydroponic farms, your lobby could potentially become devoid of anyone besides tourists and shoppers.

Sorry for the double post but I made this cool video. It shows a tower slightly similar to H_Poirot with some alterations. It has 43 floors but no basement besides a doctor's office.

Ooh I loved that game. My rig won't run it though, and I think I still have the disc around somewhere. I always did get mad because I could never figure out how to make a tower better than 3 stars.

I used to go into debt upon reaching 3 stars until I read FAQs and game guides.

By the way, are there any C++ programmers who could work on Highrise Developer or Python programmers who can work on PyOT?

Also, there are several clones of SimTower now. There is Corporation Inc (a flash game) and Tiny Tower (a phone/slate app) as well as copycats of those.

I liked Simtower, but the final phase was so boring I never "finished" it.  There was too little to do in the end.

I finally made a new video! This one includes a sunrise transition, basic animation of Oaties (people) and elevators, UI mockup, and a new and improved tower scrolled around. I even narrate it with Sims: Hot Date and SimCity 4 Music in the background.

    So, what do you think?

Someone PM'd me on the Minecraft forum who wants to make an online clone of SimTower, something I wanted to do but needed to learn how. I understand some coding but OpenGL is mostly a mystery to me. I can also make webpages but they are never very good and I don't understand canvas yet.

OK, this is pretty funny. A relatively big site, ModDB used two of my mock-ups of OpenTower/Highrise Developer (some would call it fanart of SimTower) on their SimTower page. I feel so flattered but I want to make it clear in the future that I did not rip anyone off with my art, it is just that some people misattributed it.

    --Ocram

EDIT: Those of us who are interested in SimTower should join together and actually accomplish something! There is no need to start from scratch either. I have been tinkering around with Highrise Developer again (trying to get it to work on up-to-date systems, then to add my art) and I am starting to understand more of the code and how it works, despite failing my C++ class a year or 2 ago.

Update: Highrise Developer refuses to run using the latest versions of the libraries it uses (OpenGL and SFML are the ones I can think of) and even with supposedly the right libraries, it won't run on 64 bit systems. This means that I needed to start from scratch when making a SimTower clone. I ended up making a little Web-Game called OcramTower that utilizes JavaScript (including JQuery) in an HTML5 environment (with some CSS as well because most web pages would look bad without it). My last commit to GitHub was in August but I have been working on OcramTower (without uploading anything) for about a week now and I will commit to GitHub tomorrow so I will be able to continue to work on it from my dad's place. With a little help, I managed to figure out how to load a saved tower made up of a 2D array holding images and how to load data from XML and put that into a table. Once I learn how to make prototypes/functions/plugins in JQuery, I will be able to streamline the coding for loading data from XML and try to combine that with writing to a 2D array (which is pretty much implementing saving instead of just loading) and constructing rooms and lobbies. Prealpna3 of OcramTower looks pretty but has no functionality besides loading a static tower and allowing the end-user to pan through the the tower using drag and drop and zoom out using normal zooming features of the browser (Ctrl+ or Ctrl-).

I am also glad to find out that the developer of IsoTower is still working hard on it and will release an update soon.

    --Ocram

EDIT: Here is the link to the page where you can play the videos and load and fiddle around with the 3 pages (prealpha3, prealpha4, and RoomInfo):

Update/Bump: Project Highrise, Block'hood, Skylimit Tycoon, and OcramTower are all under development and set to be released soon.

Project Highrise has a thread and I don't know much about Block'hood or Skylimit Tycoon yet. However, I have an update regarding OcramTower.

I've been super busy with university courses but I managed to plan out what to do in my free time and make some SVG art.

Here is a link to my blog post with more info:

    http://azemocram.blogspot.com/2016/04/ocramtower-goes-pseudo-3d-with-svg.html

In short, the tower will be saved and simulated in 3D but displayed using Scalable Vector Graphics in "classic," top-down, and 4 isometric views. The SVG files will be animated with JavaScript with empty, neutrally-lit rooms being made in InkScape and most furniture and decorations stored in the DOM (first drawn in InkScape but isolated and tweaked in Notepad++). I made 9 rooms in InkScape: a fast food café façade, a standard office, a small office, a large office, a studio apartment, a 1-bedroom apartment, and 3 variations of the condo. Other than transport, restrooms, and variation, I have completed all 1-star graphics for classic view. I will make the rest of my 1-star graphics after finals; coding will begin then as well.

    UPDATE!

I have learned enough about the various tower games to create a new thread about just them. SimTower is an old game and the new ones can stand on their own without comparison to SimTower. My own project is fully planned out with projected months for milestones.
