Roy Boehm of Punta Gorda, a retired U.S. Navy lieutenant commander who fought three wars, started the Navy's first SEAL team, Died at 84.

I read a book years ago that detailed SEAL training (it may have been G Gordon Liddy's The Monkey Handlers) and was quite impressed.

Boehm was one of the men assigned to recover bodies from the USS Arizona, and even sent SEALs into prison to learn techniques from prisoners. He was a truly unique character, who can never be replaced.

Let no one yield, we're on the field where deeds eclipse the sun; where the brave are told on a thread of gold, the tapestry is spun. As they speak of dreams, their armor gleams, this calm before the storm... Where all can see their destiny, the bishop takes the pawn.
