Commute problems with the NAM

Well, I tried to install the NAM with perfect pathfinding. Even though the overall commute time decreased by a tiny bit, there became more residents who became jobless. In my rich city there was allready trouble. Thta's why I installed it. However, the system doesn't make sense either. Some people who travel far have medium commute times, while someone who travel very short have long commute times.

When I installed it, then in my poor city where no one was jobless, then people started getting jobless. And it wasn't the ones who was in the middle. (I have industry in bordering cities): No, it was the ones who were right next to the industries who became jobless, and had long commute times. How can I deal with this problem?

I have the exact same problem. maybe you should put high density commercial before you put hi-density residental. The problem is that the small buildings cant take all the jobs of the large residential buildings. so you always keep the residential 1 level lower than the commercial(unless its low density) so they can suport the jobs. when the hi-rise commercial and industrial come, then you can add the hi-density residential. Hope this helps!

Well, in my rich city I can do that, but it still doesn't make sense since my commercial area isn't that big and all of my roads and transit lanes are green.

In my poor city everything is high-density. The industry, the commercial and the residential. I have 600K who is living in a medium city, but half of the area is water and half of that again is commercial. For the poor city I have 600K people, 400K industry and 100K commercial. The commercial is high-density, but it isn't more than 170 people living working in them. (3 squares) or 150 people living in them (2 squares). However, it doesn't really make sense, because with the NAM, some of the people who live close to the border has long commute while the ones who is living in the middle has medium, and they are both working in the industry.

Try getting the radical ordinance mod. It may help. But if you roads are all green, It may be that all the jobs near the homes are taken, so the sims have to go farther to find a new job. Try placing a subawy so they can get to the farther jobs. You can even try demolishing some residential to make way for commercial. Or if they can fit, build highways. If all else fails, try restarting your city by obliterating it in god mode. And start form scratch.

According to the NAM FAQ at SC4D, the perfect path-finder has problems, they advise people to use either simulator A or B.
