    Sorry for the delay, but the file transfer has been completed. Pictures of Hangtown will come Friday (hopefully).

    Finally, Binsur is back! (and on a third page!)

    Oops. Looks like I forgot to upload Hangtown, so I'll get that tomorrow. Instead, I'll do a city that I just started today. Welcome to...
    /idealbb/files/Sevryn

    Sevryn Creek serves as a rich suburb of Binsur City. It is just in its beginning stages.

    /idealbb/files/Sevryn
     Downtown has grown quite rapidly. It is right off the BR 8 Tollway, and therefore gets a lot of business.
    /idealbb/files/Sevryn
    Here is a closer look of downtown. The elevated rail line connects to Binsur and its downtown.
    /idealbb/files/Sevryn
    Here is the main residential area, which is heavily dominated by high-wealth residential.
    /idealbb/files/Sevryn

    /idealbb/files/Sevryn

    /idealbb/files/Sevryn

    More shots of residential development.

    /idealbb/files/Sevryn

    /idealbb/files/Sevryn

    Here's something that you rarely see in Binsur: farms. The entire west side of the town is dominated by farms.They may change into residential as the city matures and gets older.

    That's all for Sevryn Creek. What do you think?

    Thanks TMS. You seem to be really into my CJ. You deserve an honor...

    Here is an updated region shot. As you can see, I'm a very slow city builder.

    /idealbb/files/Hangtown9.jpg

    Continuing on to...
    /idealbb/files/Hangtown7.jpg

    Hangtown is yet another sleepy suburb of Binsur City.

    /idealbb/files/Hangtown1.jpg

    Here is the newly named TMS circle, where BR 31 and CR 158 intersect.

    /idealbb/files/Hangtown2.jpg

    A shot of some high-wealth residences, including the Mayoral Mansion.

    /idealbb/files/Hangtown8.jpg

    Some more residences.

    /idealbb/files/Hangtown3.jpg

    Here are some trendy shops near BR 901. The road is an offshoot of I-901, which connects Hangtown to I-1. (See the full city shot.)

    /idealbb/files/Hangtown4.jpg

    Here are some more shots near Hangtown Lake. It is said that the lake was created by a meteor millions of years ago.

    /idealbb/files/Hangtown5.jpg

    Here is the major commercial center. (Thanks to Tropod for removing the one-way road arrows.)

    /idealbb/files/Hangtown6.jpg

    This is the only farm left in the town. It has stood since the city was founded more than 60 years ago.

    That's it for Hangtown. Next up: West Binsur.

    West Binsur is one of my pre-RH cities that underwent a massive transformation. It is one of the older cities in the region.

    /idealbb/files/West

    The BR 208 Freeway was built even before the town was made, which partially explains the reason why it is elevated for its entire length This is kind of rare in Binsur, except in major cities. CR 162 has a few high-density buildings, but still somehow keeps its sleepy small town feel.

    /idealbb/files/West

    Here is a close-up at one of those high-density commercial buildings.

    /idealbb/files/West

    This is the odd interchange among BR 26, BR 208, and CR 162. It was constructed in this way due to the narrow right of way. Plans are underway to reconstruct the interchange.

    /idealbb/files/West

    BR 26 is the Ramapo Pike. This is a relatively new road constructed to serve the nearby new town of Ramapo. Unfortunately, it's a trucker's nightmare. 11.gif

    /idealbb/files/West

    Here is the Ramapo Pike at the top of the hill, where it tunnels and then crosses the Ramapo River. The river cuts a huge gorge in the Binsur Hills, creating one of the most picturesque views.

    /idealbb/files/West

    The bridge leads into what is known as the Canyon Junction. This is where BR 26 and BR 193 intersect. Many businesses and small apartments have been fit into this little section of land.

    /idealbb/files/West

    This is BR 193 on the other side of the city, near the casino.

    /idealbb/files/West

    The Federal Circle.

    /idealbb/files/West

    BR 268 which leads to I-6. Once again, another trucker's nightmare.

    /idealbb/files/West

    BR 268 near the I-6 junction.

    /idealbb/files/West

    The interchange between I-6 and BR 208. About 3000 cars use the interchange.

    /idealbb/files/West

    The Highlands Shopping Area, home to many high-wealh shops.

    That's all for West Binsur. Next week, I think I'll do something a little different. Every now and then, I will highlight a specific famous road. This time it is BR 101: The Coastal Highway. Here's a little teaser:

    Thanks for the comments. I've been working hard on the BR 101 documentary, but I have seen to run into a problem. All of a sudden, when I play SC4 on my laptop, the laptop itself suddenly shuts down after about 30 minutes of gameplay. So right now, I only have a few pictures that I was able to salvage before the laptop shut down. I guess I'll try to post them tonight.

    The only thing that I have done to the game is added the Network Addon Mod beta, but that actually made the game run faster (probably the improved pathfinding engine). I really don't understand what is the problem.

    BR 101: Riverdell City to Seacrest

    /idealbb/files/101Title.jpg
    BR 101 is one of the oldest roads in the region of Binsur. It hugs the coastline of the region and is still being built in some areas. The first sections were built in New North Binsur. Now, it runs through 6 cities: Riverdell City, Seacrest, New North Binsur, Phillip Island, Deepwater, and the newly founded city of Surf City.This post will cover the sections from Riverdell City to Seacrest.
    /idealbb/files/Coastal
     Here is the very beginning of BR 101 at the edge of the Riverdell City border in the section of Messena. It used to end at I-1, but was extended to offer service for Messena local traffic.
    /idealbb/files/Coastal
    Here is the original end at BR 101 at I-1.
    /idealbb/files/Coastal

    /idealbb/files/Coastal

    /idealbb/files/Coastal

    /idealbb/files/Coastal
    From this point forward, BR 101 is under construction. A new highway tunnel is being built under City Hall and downtown.
    /idealbb/files/Coastal
    Here is the planned beginning of the south end of the highway tunnel. The four distressed buildings will be demolished.
    /idealbb/files/Coastal

    /idealbb/files/Coastal

    /idealbb/files/Coastal
    Here is BR 101 before construction at a very congested CR 146 intersection. Unfortunately, some major buildings will also have to be destroyed.
    /idealbb/files/Coastal

    /idealbb/files/Coastal
    On the next update: Shots of the completed Seacrest Tunnel as well as the construction into New North Binsur.

    Here comes Part 2.
    /idealbb/files/Coastal
    The old remaining sections of BR 101 have been changed to BR 171 in Seacrest and BR 181 in New North Binsur. Rapid development is occurring in the affected areas.
    /idealbb/files/Coastal
    Here is the new northern portal of the 101 tunnel. /idealbb/files/Coastal
    The next few pix cover the construction on Binsur Island. Here is the shot before construction.
    /idealbb/files/Coastal

    /idealbb/files/Coastal
    Here are some after shots. The highway will now enter New North Binsur.
    /idealbb/files/Coastal
    Construction of the new interchange and tunnel in New North Binsur.
    /idealbb/files/Coastal
    Here is the finished interchange, now handling about 3000 cars a day and about 1000 buses.
    /idealbb/files/Coastal

    /idealbb/files/Coastal
    Two shots of the old BR 101 (now BR 181).
    /idealbb/files/Coastal
    Construction of the other end of the BR 101 tunnel.
    /idealbb/files/Coastal
    The finished project.
    /idealbb/files/Coastal
    Here is a night shot of the same interchange, showing rush hour traffic. BR 101 will cross over the bridge and then have an interchange with the BR 4 Tollway.
    /idealbb/files/Coastal
    This is the end of the BR 101 Freeway (for now, at least) after the BR 4 interchange. During this boulevard section, traffic can reach upwards of 7000 cars. However, a freeway has been ruled impossible due to the amount of buildings that would have to be destroyed.
    /idealbb/files/Coastal
    Here is BR 101 around many Stage 8's. However, this section of the city has fallen upon hard times and there are many distressed buildings.
    /idealbb/files/Coastal
    This is where BR 101 changes from a north-south roadway to an east-west roadway. This section was originally built as an elevated freeway to offer clear views of the horizon over the sea.
    /idealbb/files/Coastal
    The BR 21-BR 101 interchange.
    /idealbb/files/Coastal
    BR 101 will have a short stint as a boulevard and then become a freeway again. This interchange marks the northern end of I-1, next to the very busy Grand Railroad Station. (Can't you tell? 18.gif ) BR 101 will remain a freeway until it enters Phillip Island.
    /idealbb/files/Coastal

    /idealbb/files/Coastal
    The last 2 exits of BR 101 in New North Binsur.

    I'll probably edit this post later with a map of the route.

    Next time: a more in-depth look at New North Binsur.

    New North Binsur: A City on the Decline
    (All pix are hosted on Imageshack.)
    NNBTitlehttp://img24.exs.cx/img24/7969/NNB7.jpg width=600 border=0>
    New North Binsur, the oldest city in the Binsur region, was once a vibrant, rapidly growing city that had over 500,000 Sims at its peak. Now, due to long commutes and high unemployment, people are leaving in droves. This is why the New North Binsur Redevelopment Committee (NNBRC) has been formed. Its purpose is to restore and revitalize New North Binsur both economically and aesthetically. The BR 101 Tunnel Project was just one of the many projects going on around the city. These next few updates will take you around the city and show the projects meant to revitalize the city.
    <ahttp://img47.exs.cx/img47/8474/citymap1.jpg width=600 border=0>
    Here is a map of the city and all of the neighborhoods. This update will cover Binsur Island and Mt. Futa. Notice the large open space in the middle of the city. This is being set aside for a large park. The building of the park will be covered later.
    <ahttp://img47.exs.cx/img47/7812/cityroadmap.jpg width=600 border=0>
    Here is a map of the major roadways in the city.
    <ahttp://img50.exs.cx/img50/1806/NNB1.jpg width=600 border=0>
    Binsur Island was the first settlement in New North Binsur and in the entire region.
    <ahttp://img50.exs.cx/img50/5149/NNB15.jpg width=600 border=0>
    (Sorry for the repetitiveness.) The BR 101 project has helped bring some business back, but there are still some distressed buildings. From here, we are going to swing around on Island Loop East.
    <ahttp://img50.exs.cx/img50/3277/NNB6.jpg width=600 border=0>
    Here is the Mayor's Mansion overlooking the Binsur Sea.
    <ahttp://img50.exs.cx/img50/5016/NNB10.jpg width=600 border=0>
    Avenue F is well-known for being a slum. To change this, all the distressed buildings were destroyed and replaced with high-density commercial.
    <ahttp://img50.exs.cx/img50/538/NNB2.jpg width=600 border=0>
    Here is the end result. That is a Vu Financial (4343 jobs) under construction. A bus stop was also built in anticipation of the increased traffic.
    <ahttp://img50.exs.cx/img50/9003/NNB14.jpg width=600 border=0>
    Here is the new Lighthouse Court. There used to be some distressed medium-density rowhouses on that road. They were all destroyed and replaced with a forest. It was well-received by the long-time residents of the area.
    <ahttp://img50.exs.cx/img50/9650/NNB17.jpg width=600 border=0>
    Here is the new City Hall, moved due to the BR 101 construction.
    <ahttp://img50.exs.cx/img50/2163/NNB12.jpg width=600 border=0>
    Now on the Island Loop West, we come across yet another former residential area that has been treansformed into a commercial area. (After this screenshot, trees were added to the unzoned area to the far right.)
    <ahttp://img50.exs.cx/img50/9675/NNB11.jpg width=600 border=0>
    Here are those trees along with some commercial development.
    <ahttp://img50.exs.cx/img50/2328/NNB8.jpg width=600 border=0>
    In this shot, the entire block was pretty much distressed. Three abandoned buildings were destroyed and replaced with two baseball fields. You can see the results.
    <ahttp://img50.exs.cx/img50/1762/NNB9.jpg width=600 border=0>
    The soccer field is also new, and the commercial buildings on the far right were once two distressed CS$$$ buildings.
    <ahttp://img50.exs.cx/img50/2262/NNB13.jpg width=600 border=0>
    Here are some more new commercial offices. Now we'll cross the BR 101 freeway bridge into Mt. Futa.
    <ahttp://img50.exs.cx/img50/5146/NNB5.jpg width=600 border=0>

    <ahttp://img50.exs.cx/img50/797/NNB3.jpg width=600 border=0>
    Mt. Futa is the smallest neighborhood in New North Binsur. It is mostly high-wealth.
    <ahttp://img50.exs.cx/img50/9140/NNB16.jpg width=600 border=0>
    Here is the heavily-used BR 101-BR 4 interchange. About 9000 cars use the interchange.<ahttp://img50.exs.cx/img50/6089/NNB4.jpg width=600 border=0>
    Here are some small private houses. This road goes through a tunnel and leads to a marina.
    That's it for this update. Please reply and say which section you want me to do next.

    Wow... I've never seen this region before, but I really like it!!! 9.gif I love the way how you did the story thing at the beggining of the CJ with the mayor driving through the city... maybe you could do that again with one of the MySims? Other then that, it really is a beautiful region and it's so REAL... even with some of the slums, dirty industry, and abandonment, it makes this region probably one of the most real-looking one's I've ever seen! Good job!!! 9.gif

    Here have some bunnies: 35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif

    By the way, since nobody said what I should do next, I am going to do Shoreside Vale.

    A little written update. Due to massive abandonment, the extension of the BR 101 freeway , which was once considered impossible, has been approved through Shoreside Vale. Pictrures will come in the next update.

    Shoreside Vale is the first area in the entire region to develop Stage 8 residential buildings. As you can see, the population has plummeted. There have been a lot of changes to this area, so here we go.

    This is the area before construction.

    The BR 101 project through Shoreside Vale has been approved and completed. Here are some shots of the demolition of mostly distressed and abandoned buildings.

    Great City Journal Mdz! I'm sure you're or you'll be an enginner because it looks like you love roads, higways, etc... But I didnt like the last pics...They are distorced I think. And also, I thought that Coastal Highway (101) travel the best thing in your CJ.. i really liked that, and the small signs. Really good! Congratulations =D

    P.S.: I dont remember if I've already said it here, but BR is the name we use in Brazil for the roads (BR-101, BR-116) :P

    8.gif Well, now there are major problems. Unfortunately, New North Binsur keeps on crashing while I play it without warning. So until I can figure out what is going on, I am going to have to discontinue New North Binsur. I only have these 4 pictures that I took right before the city crashed.

    Welcome to Newark.
    map.jpg

    NewNorthBinsur-Feb2315.jpg
    Here is an overview of Newark, sandwiched among I-1, I-2, BR 21, and BR 4. The open space at the bottom has been left over for a park.
    NewNorthBinsur-Sep8151.jpg
    Here are the beginning stages of the park. A stream has been built to act as a perimeter. BR 112 has been altered and a new road has been built to provide better access from Hancock to the center of Industry City.
    NewNorthBinsur-Sep82.jpg
    The new road is CR 230. I had done up to this point when my computer crashed for the 9th time before I could save.

    A regional update will come next.

    A transportation view. Binsur's North Shore, including the cities of Phillip Island, Deepwater, and Surf City are next.

    Update 1.gif

    I really like Philip Island... It's making me think of doing something I've never donebefore... that being... building a city with a lot of water on a small amount of land.  I like your extensive use of avenues : most cities have roads which are almost always 2 or more lanes except for in residential areas.  Shame Sim City doesn't ave avenues without the median...  A  tip for you: when building along water, especially if there's a substantial amount of high wealth, use one-way streets and put parks for a grandeur effect.

    Deepwater I like too. You have a 'Miami Thing' going on there, with a thin, densley-populated long strip of land surrounded by water. I' crazy for that 3.gif

    I've probably said this before, but I'll say it again : I love the way you build and expand your regions... all the cities are like it's own city. And also I like the way you terraform the land as you go.. that's what I do.. i find I loose intrest when I terraform all of the land first.

    And finally, a question : Other then the bus and train network, does Binsur have a subway system?

    Oh, and you really hve to do that drive-through city again... it's so interesting and a very different wway of viewing cities!! 19.gif

    MattC005: Only Binsur City and the city that I am going to show today, Surf City, have subway systems.  New North Binsur has a monorail system.

    I am getting a bit disappointed by the lack of comments other than mattc005, even though it is getting viewed a lot. So if you have comments, please reply.

    Surf City is a very-fast growing city on Binsur's North Shore. When I began taking pictures for this city, the population was at 101,000. When I was finished, it grew to 150,000. People love it for its famous beaches.

    ABOVE: Shot of old BR 102 near Surf City Stadium. The elevated roadway carried about 4000 cars, causing the need for a highway.

    BELOW: Old end of BR 102 Freeway Phase 1. Eventually, heavy traffic developed past here and more freeway was built. (I didn't like the repetition of the Karim Medical Supply Company, anyway.
