A Financial Review for Update 13!

The Striaght Seas Index (SSI), was a new bourse which made its dubut on 2 January 2009. It started at 1000 points, and now its value is at 1026.81. Its record high was on 3 January when it reached 1030.07. This index also trades during weekends, and the movement is caused by, most importantly, any significant events happening in the SSR, secondly, by the global stock movements (real), and the one which is used the least, by random. Here is a chart of its value since debuting on 2 Jan.

This concludes the mini-update! Please post questions and comments! And also, 950 views! Can it go to 1000? A real update will come either on next Monday or when the RHW comes, whichever is earlier. Thanks!

    Best,

    Isaac

Sorry everyone, but I have a problem. When I want to start SC4, the picture (bridge0 comes out but after that nothing happens. i tried uninstalling SC4 but now I have installed the original SC4 but not the Rush hour, and when I want to install that, nothing happens! I can still read the files, but when i want to run AutoRun.exe it cannot run. Can anyone tell me what to do? Now I only have SC4 original installed but when i try to run it, it says it needs the Rush Hour Disk. Inserting the Rush Hour disk causes the same result as above, nothing happens!

As there will be no pictures in my RHW update, I can still post that. but all updates after that will be suspended until the problem is fixed, or when my busy period has passed (it ends on 20 Jan, then I can relax :-)) So stay tuned for more news on this situation. You can also check my signature, I will be updating it every other day. But RHW update is a promise, so watch this thread! Still, you can comment on Updates 12 and 13.

So far the leaderboard stands at:

    1. jacqulina

    Thanks!

    Isaac

    Update 14 is here!

My problem was fixed and now I can play SC4! But first, here is the tutorial (part 1) that I promised. It is short for now.

Rural Highway Mod 3.0 Tutorial by IsaacTham

This tutorial will tell you some of my views of the RHW and when you should use it where and other stuff concerning the mod.

This mod was released on 14 January 2009. You can get it from the LEX. A dependancy is the new NAM January 2009, which can also be found in the LEX.

When to use what RHW networks where

    RHW-2

My clear recommendation is never to use them, even in the suburbs, because their capacity is very low and even a small town can cause the RHW-2 to jam.

    RHW-4

You can use them in the suburbs. It is cheaper than upgrading straight to a RHW-8 and it takes up less space. Small towns will do the trick, but if you have a populated city of more than 200 000 people, don’t use it, since the RHW 3.0 is here.

    RHW-6S

When you want to convert your RHW-4 into RHW-8, you have to use this. For RHW-4 networks, consider upgrading it into a RHW-6S near a major interchange to handle larger volumes of traffic and break the extra lane off the highway to MIS to connect it to roads.

    RHW-6C

Don’t use them. They cannot be separated, and the only advantage is space. Only use them when you really have no space. These are like Maxis highways, just that Maxis highways are 1 tile thinner, and their speed limits are higher. So if you have no space and want a 6 lane highway, use the Maxis highways.

    RHW-8

Yes, use them in congested RHW-4s. In a dense city, use them. It has more than three times the capacity of a RHW-4, so more cars can travel on it and it will help relieve traffic congestion. You can also combine multi-RHW-4s into a RHW-8 by a transition piece. So in the city, use the RHW-8.

    RHW-10

RHW-10 has the same capacity as RHW-8. So don’t spend unnecessary money on it. Like I said, use RHW-8.

That's all so far! And hey, my CJ has hit 1000 views! Good job everyone!

    Update 15 is coming soon!

    Best,

    Isaac

    A little teaser today.

I finally have SC4 on widescreen! From now, all photos are 800x500 and are certainly better than last time. This is a little teaser on  what high-resolution is, answering fabsies55.

This is a photo I took of downtown after setting SC4 to be in widescreen (adding -r1280x800x32 CustomResolution to the back of the shortcut)

    800x500Test.jpg

A zoomed in view of a transport hub in downtown after setting 800x500.

    6View.jpg

This was taken BEFORE setting SC4 to widescreen on another transport hub in downtown. See the difference?

    TransportHub.jpg

This will do. Part 2 of the RHW presentation is coming in a bit!

    Update 15 is here!

This update is not a RHW one, sorry about that. I promise all 3 parts of the Tutorial will be done by update 20! This update is on what's going on in Keppel Bay, including some of my RHW works.

This is my first interchange for my RHW-8 network.
    RHW-8MainInterchange.jpg

The central portion of the RHW network as of now.
    RHW-8Network.jpg

The avenue flyover from the Main interchange is very congested, so i built another way to get to the south-most district -- tunnels.
    Congestion.jpg

Steering away from RHWs, a big traffic jam at a roundabout.
    TrafficJam.jpg

Two important milestones were reached when I was not around. First, Keppel Bay turns 100 years old! Note the date.
    100Years.jpg

The second milestone is that the population reached 700 000! Now it is at 765 000.
    700000.jpg

A new district in the east of town.
    NewDistrict2.jpg

    Another one west of town.
    NewDistrict.jpg

OK done! I hope you liked the update. Sorry for the lack of updates, school has been killing me, and I have little time to play.

To all Chinese out there, Happy Chinese New Year!

    Best,
    Isaac

im goin to do now my best attempt at a nice type of critismlol, i take back what i said befroe was maybe a bit full on lol.

ok i'd say still alot of improvement, you need more buildings and more variety better layout make it look as complex as possible thats almost all it takes.

seriously still needs a lot of improvement and im sure im not the only one who has said it... and theres no point ignoring it cause youll just keep lacking replies.
