3.Kdorn is a gazplanet, not containing any solid matter. One can fly right through it, wouldn't recommend it though!

quote>

Most  (if not all) of the HUGE planets are made of gas and a little rocky core to attract all thoose gases in their composition, Jupiter, our little giant in the solar system is made of liquid hydrogen and a core of the size of our planet4.gif, due to the EXTREMELY low temperatures thae gas there is liquid, that also means what you said, if a ship can survive the gravity effects of such a large mass, (and it won't hit a solid hydrogen chunk) it would be possible to fly through the gas giants, but that is not very useful, and is also very dangerous18.gif

If a gas planet has both Oxygen and Hydrogen in it's composition, that is not a good place to be nearby, the planet becomes a bomb, just anwaiting a small spark to go KABBOM18.gif

Nice CJ as I already mentioned, Please don't stop it 36.gif

Thanks J.O. for educating us again, that was useful to know.
As a matter of fact Kdorn is made of non-flammable and non-identified gazes and inside that cloudy Giant , there seems to be a very small , but also a very dense Ironcore, which still has to be proven though.

Thanks folks glad to see you all here......2.gif

    This week's update.
I was a little discouraged to see how few people posted and came to my CJ, that I started wondering if it was worth continuing. But I always came her directly without going through the forum and ever bothering to look at the number of visitors that have passed.Someone last week pointed to me where to look to see those who come and see, and I was quite surprized to see that the journal had over 6000 visits.
Here is a little bit about the Story and the region.I finished playing long time ago with the Genesis region, almost 6 months now. Here is a small glimpse of it.  (A)

    /idealbb/files/NexisCity.jpg
I have built this region up to 7.2 Million population and started many other regions ever since.-What I show and you see here on the journal is the same region, but replayed with todays lots and BATs, but it is more or less played only for the journal. Some pics are old, from the first Genesis and many are from the second edition.
So, this is alot of work to partially redo the whole region , just for the CJ.I thought, because the region was beautiful and my idea of the story was great, it would have been a good idea to share with you, but I also thought without ever having taken a look at the number of visits, that only 4 or 5 were interested in it, so I started to wonder ,if I should continue. That is why I started the thread * End of Nexis*? - But now I figured out that there are more than 100 visits everyday and I would like to excuse myself for not having looked before, if you were here.--So , thanks folks.!

    Back to the adventure now.........
Let's show a bit of Axis first, that is starting to bloom, because of the Highway connection and because of the well known Mayor, Oriol from Mahoon, who is doing a fabulous job at mayoring the Town. 40% of all Immigrants are wanting to live in Axis, which even has made its news on Uru.But also Gloryville makes its strike now with the new healthcare system, airport and the futur project of the Intown Natural Park , which is planned for the next month and will cost a small fortune to the town.
    But first Axis.
A new housing type was introduced to the Urulians by the Gaburans (people from Mahoon),Rowhouses as they call it. Quickly built, not expensive living and easy maintenance. They start to show on some streets of Axis and are greatly in demand.
    /idealbb/files/1CommonHousing.jpg
As we can see on this pic, new architecture is starting to develop too in Axis, again some imported ideas from Mahoon. A few big buisnesses have themselves installed in this town, because of the Highway, also the first financial institution. Growing slowly but surely on the  banks of the Tenzel River, Axis might become a Mega city one day.It is drawing a lot of modern enterprizes, but no industrials allowed in his town, as the Mayor Oriol pointed out clearly in the beginning. Tenzel Outlet, not being far away from both, offered itself to Axis and Gloryville, for the zoningneed of Industrial development.
    /idealbb/files/2Axis.jpg
The son of Vallen Nexis, Troy Nexis, has made news in this town, by causing a spectacular accident, where pieces of cars have been projected in all directions, but luckily no harm done to any life.
    /idealbb/files/3Accident.jpg
The Gaburans finally have finished the first railbridge over the Tenzel river and are ready now to bring in the tracks into town. Also some tracks are layed in other townships at the same time.500 Gaburans and 200 Urulians are working on the railway system in different regions. As we know now, that Urulians never saw this kind of transportation, and they are more than amazed to see this developing right here on Genesis. Even Rulers on Uru are getting interested in this sort of transportation. Gaburans will held a meeting with the Rulers of Uru for more practical ideas of transportation in the futur.
    /idealbb/files/4AxisFirstRailBridge.jpg

Some richer folks or some that have more influence with the Rulers and the Government, are more likely to be able to get better construction sites than others. Like these folks here, being able to build  far outside of town
    /idealbb/files/5RicherFolks.jpg

....more to come in a minute or so........

    ....continued from above.....

Also in Tenzel Outlet, the construction of the railways is very busy. The town itself will have a station later too.

    /idealbb/files/TenzelRails4a.JPG
In Red Poll, they have made aconnection to the highway, which will lead to the Islands of Nexis (as it is called now). Also the preparation for a futur site to branch off the highway into the same direction, has been made. All the wood that has been cut here is done by the Razor Blade Logging Company in Treeland, which is growing bigger than ever.
    /idealbb/files/6RedPollConnection.jpg
This is an airial Photo of  New Sholes, the township, where Nexis oil has their oilfields and pumps. Here too, because of the steady demand for Oilworkers, the town is slowly extending over the Nexis River.More demand for residential zoning and even for a trainstation and a harbour, have been filed to the Regional Administration Office in Gloryville.- The Rising Sun Oil Company also has plans to maybe install a Refinery , right here, with a pipeline to the northern regions. The land was already reserved!
    /idealbb/files/7New
Now, a little bit about our Killer Meteor. In co-operation with the Gaburans from Mahoon (which have been following the Meteor even before the Urulians), scientists now say that there is a slight change in the trajects of the meteor Opall. Probably because of Kdorn, or even because of Solaris, the trajectory of Opall turned  somewhat towards the Sun of this system....Now, that could be different, it might either hit Solaris or just being swinged around it and then heading  anywhere else, impossible to figure out where, now. Uru will still be deadly affected by its pass.
Being of very slow speed, Opall might pull together dozens of planets , suns and moons. Will this end  life as we know it?
    /idealbb/files/8Opall4.JPG
Now, let's have a look at Gloryville from above. Yes it is growing too and probably the most important competitor to Axis for immigration.
    /idealbb/files/9GloryvilleToday.jpg

Even the first Railstation on Genesis was built in Gloryville, near the old Landing strip. So far the rails are only connected to Axis and the Northern Region.
    /idealbb/files/10GloryvilleStation.jpg
The Gloryville commission of beautification has decided to end the constructions around the little Centerlake, because of its beauty. It will be considered from now on as a Park. The existing buildings in this district will keep the right of existance, but if they are not maintained properly, they will make room for the natural part of the park. The inhabitants of this town have gladly approved the decision of the Mayor
    /idealbb/files/11Sulphur
Only a couple of days after finishing the station, the first train from the northern Region arrived in Gloryville, which again gained this honor of being the First.
This was shown Live on Uru, and now they want a system like this too, where traffic has become a severe problem
    /idealbb/files/12GloryvilleFirst
Some 7 Space vessels have arrived lately from Uru, with a total of 2274 immigrants and there wasn't enough housing available, so the Urulian Army has sent some Giant tents through the LBST (Light-beam Space Traveler) and a temporary housing site was installed near the airport, which hold more immigrants than needed. With hundreds of jobs available every day, it is not surprising that so many immigrants arrive every week. Construction Companies, Oil Co, Logging Industries and the transport ministry are offering Topmoney for workers. Genesis Government asked for more workers from Uru .
    /idealbb/files/13TempHousing2.jpg
A final look at the Genesis region of today. A road to Nexis is being build and they have reached the beautiful smaller Islands of Nexis sofar. We can also see here that the rails have reached Gloryville and are in construction to be in New Sholes and Treeland soon.
    /idealbb/files/14RoadToNexis.jpg
These are some parts of the ever-beautiful Nexis Islands, just as Vallen Nexis has discovered them some years ago. When the Rulers came on a field trip to see the construction of the *Road to Nexis*, they decided without any hesitation  to make a Natural Reserve Park of 90% of this township, after just having taking a small look at the stunning beauty of the waterways and islands. * Not even the governor or the First Ruler will have the right to build here!*... were the words to the Media.
    /idealbb/files/15NexisIslandsFirstRoad.jpg

...until soon, as the road to Nexis will be finished, rails be layed in Treeland, agriculture will bloom, much more and also terrible news  concerning the *Father of Genesis*, Daight Nexis.......15.gif

you know you are addicted to Nexis of Genesis when you are so intently studying the pictures, you completely forget about your own region, which is slowly burning to the ground.

Another great CJ with the use of custom lots! The story is becoming more intriguing. I never thought to use the construction lot for the tremporary construction of the RR. That looks really great!
And ummm........er...I hope you reserved a tent for Boo. 36.gif
Thanks MrB. and glad you decided to continue the CJ. It highlights my day and gives me incentive to be more creative in the use of lots and bats.

MrCinatit, don't let your City burn!
BarbyW and pekeboo: the lot won't be available on the Stex, but the tents are , as props. You can make your own lots with them now.
J.O., I don't think Kdorn will save anything, the Meteor is already to much  passed it. But it picked up speed ever since it passed Kdorn.34.gif

Thanks a lot for all the nice comments above.1.gifHope you will like this part too.It contains more than half a dozen of unique lots and BATs.3.gif

This is an important update, something to remember and to look at in details.

    First of all...........
    15.gif15.gif
.....Can we have one minute of a Stand up Silence please, in honor of Daight  Nexis ,who passed away this morning on his 100th birthday in his home on Uru.
In the Urulian Capital of Urulia, tens of thousands of people have gathered in the Center park to see the Ceremony of Daight's Welfare. Even Vallen Nexis and his kids have come from Genesis, along with many others. He will surely be remembered as the greatest  Hero ever.

    /idealbb/files/1-NexisDeath.jpg
His corps will be brought to Genesis , where it will be burried on sacred grounds on top of some mountain.- Daight Nexis, the Father of the LBST (Light-Beam Space Traveler) and also called by most of the Urulians, *The Father of Genesis*, has always wished to go to the New world and was never able to ,because of his healthproblems. His wish will now be honored and granted. The Center of Genesis will now be called Nexis and Urulians on Genesis, want to call themselves *Nexians* from this date on, which also will be an official remembrance date for years to come.
Mira, an expert in the Genesian Biology, went on a field trip with about a dozen of other students and scientists, to the High Arctic of Genesis. Once there, they witnessed and photographed a weird energy form. The picture was instantly send to Uru for some inspecting and analysing and also showed to Oriol, who told them to do everything possible to stay away from this and out of its path. It is a magnetic Toronado, which can send you into space within seconds.-They are rare, but happen, when electrical storms hit the High Arctic. No harm was done.
    /idealbb/files/2-Weird.jpg
The Razor-Blade Logging Company has tripled in size since two years and look out for its immense expansion to come. Here we can see some of its clearing land, mostly for Zoning use, but also for road and track laying, but also for construction as we will see later. All the wood is cut into lumber that will be sold for construction, which is in great need right now.
    /idealbb/files/3-Clearcuts.JPG
Treeland has its own train system now, with a station that will accelerate the transport of the farming and logging goods. This will not only help the Farming community, but also solve the problem of the long transportation of the merchandise by road to Gloryville and Axis. Because of its absence of water in form of a lake or a river, a water reserve was been built (which we can see in the middle of the picture) for the irrigation of the fields .
    /idealbb/files/4-Treeland.jpg
One group of Settlers went southwestwards of Gloryville, to establish a new municipality there, but after some heavy discussions between the settlers,on what side of the Nexis river to build the settlement, the Regional Administration Office of Gloryville has decided to separate the township in two, to end the conflict. Here we now have *Three Towers North and Three Towers South*, each on its side of the Nexis River. The township will be ruled only by one Mayor though, which will be elected next month. This area is called Three Towers, because of the natural shape of the nearby mountainrange.
    /idealbb/files/5-ThreeTowersRegion1.jpg
At the entrance of the South part of Three Towers, just over the bridge, you will be welcomed by the Gaburan Lighthouse Tower. It is 100% Gaburan (from Mahoon) architecture, built entirely by the Gaburans. It was presented  as a gift to the people of this town, and to give them courage and hope for a new life on a new planet.
    /idealbb/files/6-WelcomeTower.jpg
It wasn't long after the bridge and the lighthouse were built, that the construction in this part of Three Towers begun like crazy. The demand for Appartments has risen over the top of everything, now that the most Gigantic Construction site ever in the North-west of the region will soon begin.
    /idealbb/files/7-3TowersVillage.jpg
In a month or so, the Genesis Region  will hit the 45,000 Pop mark. Only 13 years after the first arrivals. The Administration calculated another 50K to come within the next two years only and some problems and needs have surfaced. Some of them are :A Better Educational System-Better Security and Police - Fire fighting and Emergency units - Water supplies and treatments - Electricity needs etc...These will be looked into in a short time.
For now , the need for Electricity will be satisfied by building the biggest project ever on Genesis. The Hydro Dam in the Grand Dam township will be a construction site this big, that it needs thousand of workers of all classes and jobs. Around 7000 of them have already been hired. The contract was given to a new Department of the Razor-Blade Logging Company, which is called: Razor-Blade Constructions Inc. Without going into all the details, this Company has become a Mega Enterprise by now.
It was decided after careful inspection, that the site of the Dam will be North-east of Axis (see picture) on the Icy River, that Vallen Nexis once has discovered and described as a *raging white water river*.
Flowing through a Valley, a site for a dam was chosen and construction has begun.
    /idealbb/files/8-BarrageRegionView.jpg
As we can see ,this is about the size of the  futur Dam. The Valley above will be dug out completely to give room for as much water as possible. The hill will be moved.....- The Icy River comes from the upper northern part of the Genesis region and is filled by the almost all year-through melting of the snow and glaciers. Further down , this river joins another one to finally end its voyage into the Tenzel River, which in its turn dumps into the sea near the township of Tenzel Outlet.
    /idealbb/files/9-DamConst1.jpg
Of course, because of more than 3000 full-time workers needed everyday, a housing project has been built on top a hill, near the construction site. These can hold up to 3500 Urulians (nexians now) and Gaburans, which willingly want to help on this project too. Something that big of moving mountains and rivers, has never been seen on Mahoon! Journalists from Mahoon have come to follow the development of this immense project.
    /idealbb/files/10-DamHousing.jpg
The dam will be constructed in two parts, the upper wall, that will hold all the water and then the lower terrace, where the turbines and buildings will be, as we might be able to identify already on this aerial shot. The Logging Co. has the job to get rid of all the vegetation, before the water level rises.
    /idealbb/files/11-DamConst2.jpg
On Sundays , no one is in sight, it's the worker's day off! Only some Security agents will appear here and there.- On this closer picture, they show the future location of the Giant Turbines , which will produce all the Electricity needed for the next 100 years or more.
    /idealbb/files/12-DamConst3.jpg
Here is a closer look of the forms that they are building to mold the Walls of the Dam. Soon Cement mixer trucks will arrive by the dozens every hour.
    /idealbb/files/13-DamConst4.jpg
Another close look at the dam itself and the Futur Overflow Valves on the top left, in this picture.
    /idealbb/files/14-DamConst4A.jpg
And finally, an aerial picture of the Gigantic Construction site. More than kilometer wide and over 200 meters high,it can hold water as much needed as for 3 years of usage. As we can clearly see the hill that will soon disappear to make room for water.- This project is entirely financed by the Urulian Government on Uru, of course, once finished ,the taxes of the electricity produced and used will go back to Uru.
    /idealbb/files/15-DamConst5.jpg

.....Hope, you liked this episode of the Nexis Story. I will be back only next week, taking the long weekend  here in Quebec off 2.giffor some relaxation away from home.Comments will be appreciated and if you have questions, I will answer them all......19.gif

Edit:  So stupid of me, but too late now.  If you take a closer look at the forms and moulds made for the dam, you will see that the walls are inside out. Like I said, stupid and too late.34.gif

Loving it, great work, just a suggestion, If you are going to make ti to be covered with cement, make a park with the square dimentions of the dam and put  single land flag (the beaches have these) square where you are sure it will be land, then the lot can be placed half water, half soil, just make sure that the land flag is not underwater, also put in it some waterfall spray props, so it gives a nice effect of the unloading water
Btw when will opall hit some(any)thing18.gif
