okay here the skinny

my city has been running for arround 500yrs, i HAD 126K population with massive res and co skyscrapers

of course my bus. demand was sky high for co$$$ and cs$$$ i always was battling no job sighs or tweaking my transportation system

i built like 5 or 6 neighborring cities all smaller with pops under 30k (ranging from 5k- 25k pops)

each has coand cs , indust and res areas save for a few (one has no people)

last 3 or 4 days ive connected all or most of the out lying areas to my main city with rds, monorails and subways.

now my citys in a ressesion, pops going down drip by drip. i see a lot more sustained no job sighns. i had a water shortage for a few seconds bc of a water sale to another city and old pumps and i had some businesses die on me. big ones so i had to tear them down but now they are only growing little ones again. my res rci demand for low and mid wealth res is through the roof but my co and cs demand is only slight and $$$ on both is negative industry rci is high.

im down to 118k pop now.

how do i fix this?

i got rid of the big isore gifts, casions, and army base long ago and maybe a week ago the golf course, i put in lots of land marks i got turism ordinaces.  edu is sky high on all age groups. my heath could be better with old people but ive got lots of hospitals .

what am i doing wrong???

if commercial demand is low and industrial demand is high... its pretty self explanatory

you need more industry which in turn should give an increase for commercial demand, i think you might also need to tax the high wealth sims out of the city for a while, because they are the pickiest when it comes to what jobs they'll work

EDIT:

you could have 50,000 high wealth CO jobs and 50,000 high wealth residents, but with the way the game works, no more than 50% of those high wealth CO jobs are designated for the high wealth residents, i dont know the reasoning behind this though sorry

medium wealth residents benefit more from high wealth CO jobs, so basically the more high wealth sims you have, the harder it till be to fulfill all of their employment needs

hope this helped

listen to the RCI, when it says it wants industry give it industry, theres no way around that.

I suggest you build a neighboring city with just industry, give it good connections to your residential cities, doesnt necessarily have to be connected to your main city. Allow the industry there to flourish, because i assume that industry demand is high that wont be no time, that will cause commercial to rise in the entire area, and it will get your main city out of recession. It will also allow sims to flock to your residential cities.

Industry in a seperate city basically means it can be as dirty as you want, which does not require smart sims, so your sims dont have to be educated either. so just let the bottom uneducated half of ur sims flock to the industiral cities, and watch ur main city flourish with rich sims and lots of co.

basically just let ur neighboring 30k cities to become really crappy and poorly educated, just dont spend money there, allow it to run wild. put all ur effort into maintaining the link between the low wealth res and industry.

like tepodon said, put some industry in a neighbouring city, then return to your main city and you should have more commercial demand, as well as more residential demand
