Zoning Restrictions???

When you zone land, even if you use the ctrl feature to make it one big zone, sc still breaks it up if it can and builds smaller lots than what was originally zoned...

is there any way to force sc to only build the buildings the size you have zoned instead of breaking it up?

Not really. Thats why some lots are being redone to 3x5 format instead of 5x3. The game will inevitably split any blocks that are less than 5 tiles deep.

this really sucks..... its annoying when you zone a size lot for a particular building, and you are sitting here fighting with the game to try and get it built.... bulldoze 20 times, then you get it.... lol

To increase the odds for getting your desired building try using "Block All Maxis Buildings" by Dusktrooper and also I will then remove ,lets say I am going for a commercial building, I will remove my Commercial folder from the plugins folder and have just the building I want in plugins. It still a process but cuts down on the frustration level. Also make sure that your city is ready for whatever Stage level the new building is. Also make sure to check histrical before you save a exit. After you have done this a couple of times you will find that its actually faster and more rewarding than just hoping your number (building) will come up.

custom content isnt really the issue, its building anyting in the particular lot i have zoned, it looks like there is no fix, and i am just going to keep going the old route..... buldoze 20 times, then it will be built! lol
