Starting up from scratch

So after I had logged in about 250 hours of game play (that also includes going through downloads and unzipping them and everything) my computer just could not handle much more and started slowing down. So I decided to take a break and did not play for several months and had a fatal error (I work from at home as a consultant so logging in 12 hours a day on a computer is common and I think my computer just decided it needed a break or a virus got a hold of it lol). Anyways, I purchased a new computer and actually got my laptop running again but decided I wanted to get back into SC4 on my new desktop computer.

I tried to do a search in the general discussion but could not find anything and looked through the first couple of pages to see if there is a recommended download list. I thought I remember that there was one but could not find it. I am not so concerned with the buildings because what buildings one uses could vary drastically depending on what kind of city they are developing (By the way I am going to go for a USA Midwest City if you do have buildings you would recommend ). What I was wondering about are the basics. NAM, CAM, I know there are some new transportation packs out there, some water and terrain packs would also be appreciated.

Anyways, any feedback on the essentials to get started would be appreciated or point me in the direction that this has already been discussed.

projectadam: There WAS a thread for this very topic, I believe it was literally called "Recommended Custom Content". It took me a minuet to find it too, but I was able to get a hold of it for you.

I think this is exactly what you are looking for, and maybe if you have some suggestions it will be added (the nature of the thread is to add to it with time). Also, don't forget about the "Can't find it" thread, that is always helpful too.
