Welcome Fellow Mayors and Dictators Alike.

After seeing many CJ's I am tempted now to get my CJ of the New Zealand Region up into this thread.

Tomorrow I'll post some pictures of actual cities and support centres in this region in the mean time I'll post 2 pictures, one of the Auckland urban area and one of Imperial Command Centre, the capital of the region. I use only the weaknesspays cheat some times and my cities are full of modds and Lots from LEX.

So sit tight people and let The Empire tell the story of this region.

/idealbb/files/SC4
Right this first picture is of the Auckland urban area, it is located to the north east of the region with the Waikato River running through her middle and emptying out into the Pacific.. At the bottom is the Hamilton urban area which is going to be bulldozed and redeveloped ready for a fully function Thompson Tower you can see to the left in her test lot. This part of the area hold 60% of the 345,000 people in the region at present.

/idealbb/files/SC4
This is the Imperial Command Centre urban area. Capital of New Zealand it is or will be one of 4 major high density areas with green space and low density development around them. Sorry this is transport mode, at least you can see my transport line up for this area. Oh by the way State Highway One, and the Main Trunk Rail line line IPC to Auckland with only SH1 linking Auckland urban area to Hamilton urban area at the moment, the monorail is under construction

Further information will be posted on development plans for this region. <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/5.gif>

Well that is all for now
Please stand by for updates tomorrow<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/9.gif>
Enjoy and post constructive comments through out this thread and my Thompson Tower thread located in the url below.

I can only assume that your region depicts New Zealand after a REALLY massive earthquake that has drastically rearranged the country's whole geography!

Just for starters, last time I saw it the Waikato River emptied into the Tasman Sea on the western side of the North Island - the Pacific Ocean washes the eastern shores!

This is a great region! Although the Mayor is right, it looks nothing like New Zealand! But that doesn't matter, it's great to see a region that uses New Zealand place names. Keep up the good work!

hmm I don't know, there are a few hills on the map, new zealand has hills 1.gif (speaking as a non-new zealander, and one who tried to map auckland 22.gif'); height=15 alt=Insert smilie 22.gif src=https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/22.gif width=15 border=0> )

I like the thompson tower test area.

Your region is off to a good start, I look forward to seeing the developments. Especially since it looks like it will be an interesting mix of new zealand and star wars, and a few new lots thrown in.24.gif

    Small Update Time: <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/5.gif>

First of thank you for the replies so far <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/5.gif>. My region is now where based on the real New Zealand and yes I know The Waikato River empites into the Tasman Sea, but upto 10,000 years ago the Waikato River did use to flow into the pacific before Taupo blew its top in what we know it as the largest eurption in known history.

    Update: <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/22.gif>

Ok still region pictures, give me a few hours and I'll get close ups of Auckland urban area and IPC urban area.

    /idealbb/files/CJ
The above picture is the most updated pic of Imperial Command Centre and its surrounding urban area. As said before this is the region's capital and where I The Emperor reside most of the time <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/16.gif>. In the centre is Imperial Messa, home of The Emperor's House and soon to be replaced my Imperial Central Control (in LEX).
IPC itsself is mostly high density commercial office, very high end $$$ commercial services and residential with some industry in the 4 corners. The surrounding urban area houses most of the average joe commuters and commercial services like affordable retail outlets as well as large industrial estates. Support Centre 1 (the top right corner of the development) houses most of IPC urban areas critical services such as nuclear reactors, large water pumps and garbage facilities.

    /idealbb/files/CJ
This is an update map of the capital's urban area transport system. Sadly subway is not shown as this is the main form of commuting as well as EL trains in locations where they are. You can see the International airport located near Imperial Messa as well as ferries moving people up and down the Waikato River. State Highway One (in red) is the major motorway that allows traffic to go promptly through the capital city and out to the surrounding urban areas, aveunes service areas where the highway does not run. State Highway One and the rail line connect all the way to Auckland and soon Hamiltion, although SH1 is only a road between Auckland and IPC with the motorway due to be expanded as development continues. 3 seaports service IPC and illustrates the massive amount of freight movement required to keep the city alive.

    /idealbb/files/CJ
This is a transport map of Auckland urban area. Auckland houses 60% of the region's population and is a major hub to New Zealand as the city borders on the Pacific Ocean and its seaports being able to move freight and accomodate larger ships than the ports at IPC.
Again Auckland herself mainly contains high density Commercial and Residential with lower density development in the surrounding areas. How ever there are two high density industrial parks in Auckland City itself, one is on the coast where the seaport and rail yards are and another High Tech park on the western border with the park continuing into Te Atatu. Pictures of this will be posted in the next update.
Three State Highways service the Auckland Hub, State Highway One (motorway) that runs through Te Atatu (top) down past the CBD (bottom area next to ranges) to the holiday resort of Kaimai Town (development on the coast south of the city). State Highway 20 services Dry Bay City and links it to the ports on the coast of Auckland.Again avenues service areas where the motorways don't run and even form a bypass at the mouth of the Waikato. A Monorail and ferry service is under development and will soon connect the 4 urban areas of NZ.

    /idealbb/files/Auckland
This is a shot of the skeleton transportaion system connecting 3 of the major urban areas of NZ. Future expansion is due here. Thompson Tower when complete will be relocated to where the blob is on the map and Hamilton's development will take place soon after. The basic outline for expansion is industry will be located near rail lines and some of the waterways where ports will be located, with residential, commercial, green space and agriculture filling up other areas and preferably close to major transort links.

    Well thats all for now.
Please feel free to post CONSTRUCTIVE comments where required.

Stand by and by the end of today I should have some close ups of Auckland and IPC for you.<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/9.gif>

Right Time for a MEGA update to my CJ<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/5.gif>

There are some 24 pictures waiting to be uploaded from just my Auckland urban area alone <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/6.gif>, however I think Dirk might have 60 <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/24.gif>s if I uploaded all of them at once so what I will do is assemble them as a story in word and upload it as a zip for you to download and read in your time - also the fact that while most pics are no larger than 800x600 and in jpegs they are still over 150kb.

    So stand by please.

Hello Mayors and Fellow Dictators Alike.

Well my 1st part of the CJ is done which is the good news, also a piece of good news is that I did it by Powerpoint in html and Powerpoint itself. But we have a snag and I mean a mega snag, the file after she is zipped is still at 6MB and I think Dirk and other Admins might be out for my blood if I attached something this large. So at the moment I no pictures or stories for you to see until I can get round this problem

    So please Stand By.

Come to think of it, my family would sure love to have that snowcapped mountain so close to the city of Auckland - so much closer for ski trips than the five hour drive down to Mt Ruapehu 3.gif

Come on guys this is rather sad here<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/8.gif>. This CJ as well as the installments on IPCUA have taken a lot of time to prepare, edit and upload to here.
The view count is up but not if any comments.

If you think the CJ is good, then post it there and tell others
If you think this CJ is bad, let me know as well as what improvements you suggest
If you have ideas on improvements to my urban areas or my development, post here and I'll take them aboard when playing Rush Hour again.
If you think this CJ bites and you have no positive feed back I don't want to know.

Some come on guys, support my CJ by not only viewing but posting here as well.
As I'm affraid if things don't improve by the time the next round of uploads come I will have no choice but to abandon this thread<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/14.gif>.

Yes, it is - and it threw an eruption only a few years back - a search on the web should bring you up some good pics.

Also, there is a lake in the volcano crater - temperature varies over the years, there have been times when it people would swim in the lake while there was snow all around the rim. I think at present it is way too hot. A major worry is that within a couple of years this lake will probably break through part of the rim and cause a massive lahar, similar to or bigger than the one on Christmas Eve 1953 which so damaged the rail bridge at Tangiwae that the train from Wellington to Auckland, about 10.30pm that night, crashed into the river, with horrendous loss of lives.
