Problems when installing plug-ins

Sorry if my english is not as good as I´d like but, i´m spanish. I´ve problems while i´m runnig the game, when i´m in a city, just close itself without any message or similar. yesterday i´ve installed lot of plugins for Sim City 4 deluxe edition, some of simtropolis and some of Bsc exchange in s4devotion. i´ve installed lot of dependency files to be able to run the plugins, and i´ve used Cleanitol TM, wiht cleanitols .txt´s.

Well, only some roundabouts sculptures plugins where in remove txt files and in my plug ins folder before, so i backup them with cleanitol. After when i´ve installed some dependency files, in its own removelists, appears some other .dats which where contained in other packages i´ve installed just before, i say, they where not at my plugins folder 2 days ago, so i think that´s not the problem... i push backup button with them too, one of walls, another of functional seaports.

So the first time i run SC4 after installing plugins, i run one of my citys (with that roundabouts!), and suddenly appears a message: two plugins are lost, you need them blablabla, and some numbers instead of plugins names, which i could not identify, but the only plugins i´ve removed of the plugins i have before, and placed n my cities, are roundabouts.

Then after a few minutes, closed! and graphics in my computer, in windows, were extremely rare and distorsioned. after some reboots all seems to be like normal things in windows, and i introduced roundabouts again in plugins folder.

Run Sc4 again, and again after a few time, closed. I´ve removed again roundabouts and placed them in cleanitol backup folder again. But, no changes.

It seems not to happen when im using a city not containing roundabouts.

So, roundabouts are the problem? i should have removed them of my cities before removing them from the folder or installing the dependency file containing the duplicate? or could it be caused by functional airports for expample, or other plugins, which have not all dependency files installed (but runs with no problem)???? can it be caused by plugins or dependency files placed in subfolders instead on /plugins????

Answer me! please!!! 32.gif i want run my favorite game without no problemss!!!

A few thoughts...

1) You mentioned you ran Cleanitol. If you ran a Cleanitol file after installing the plugin, you may have deleted necessary files. Cleanitol should be run before installing new files.

2) You mentioned the Seaports and Airports. Did you also install the Support files and other required dependencies? Without them crashes may occur when opening a city after saving.

3) Deleting plugins without first deleting the lots in the game could lead to crashes with some plugins.

4) The missing plugin message at the start of the game meant that not all files were found that were needed. That means that all dependencies had not been installed.

5) Did any of of your plugins include terrain mods? Removing those file after using them in game could lead to crashing if not done correctly.

You may want to uninstall the game and re-install it as some of these issues could make some cities corrupt and not ever function correctly.

Hope this provides some help...

    ok, thanks.

    1) i´ve runned cleanitol remove list contained in plugins, before installing that plugins, so... i think thats not the problem...

    2) in functionaly airports, not all the dependency files where installed, but i can place the lots in the game correctly... that fact means something about crashing? but  i open the city... and it crashes after a few minutes, not after saving the city, i do not save the city, cause i suspect that after installing lot of plugins, something could happen... you know... computers... 3.gif

    3) i think thats the answer... but, in that case, and thats important... i run the game, without rundabouts in plugin folder (in cleanitol folder) first time... not saving the city, and crashes... then i put again roundabouts in plugin folder, but crashes again!! it doesnt matters if i put again the plugins in plugins folder? i mean, if i do that the game will crash again instead of keep running?

    4) ok, i though it was related to the roundabouts, and can be related to not installed dependency files for airports, right?

    5) terrain mods... yes, i have johnB cactus (old installation, always run), snow terrain (new installation), and god mode terrain tools for mayor mode (new too), and... i think thats all, and they have all the files installed correctly, i think, but  i have not removed any terrain tool. and of course im not using together snow terrain and artic terrain for example, or snow and desert...

finally, i´ll have to reinstall... im lucky, i have a security copy of regions and old plugins i have installed.. i though something bad to the game could happen after install new ones....jaja.

One thing... the game dont crashes in  agric cities with no residential or other... also if i put some roundabouts, airports.... etc, only crashes in big cities, with a lot of things, including roundabouts and airports...

another thing... remove the files thats appears at "clenitols" files or "remove it" files or similars... is cause they are duplicated if you install the dependency file??? if they are duplicated, they run properly??

    Regarding Cleanitol files...

    1) The 'Remove' list files are usually files that have been changed or upgraded from previous files. Sometimes these files will have the same names as the older versions, but are not identical files. They will overwrite older files only if they are in the same folder as the installation path. However, that is not always the case, so it is important to delete the older ones first.

    2) Also, If two files with the same name are in two different locations, then the one loaded last by the game will be in effect. This may not be the newest one, so, again, deleting the older file first becomes necessary.

    3) If two identical dependency files are in your plugins, then there should not be any effect on game function as the last one loaded will be used. The only effect would be an increase in load time due to more files being checked for loading.

    Regarding Airports...

Are you using the new AC Functional Airport Pack or an older set?

    1) If an older set, issues with crashes could occur if not properly installed with the correct support files. This could lead to corrupted cities that will not function again.

    2) If you are using the new pack, the issue of crashes should not occur if installed properly (important to read the Installation Directions). Just be sure to have all dependencies.

    Regarding Roundabouts..

I must admit to being a little confused by what you are trying to say about these. Do you mean the roundabouts that come with NAM? And you are installing NAM with and without them? If so, I don't think they would cause crashes. However, you might want to be sure to uninstall NAM if you re-install it again.

    Regarding your crashes...

Do I understand correctly that you have re-installed the game? If so, it is possible that you had some corrupted city files due to some of the mentioned issues before. If you use the same regions as you had, you may just be putting those same corrupted cities back into the game. I guess I would try the game using a new test city without any plugins first. Then if  all goes well, try putting the plugins in one or a few at a time to see if one are causing crashes.

Hope this is understandable and provides some help...
