File confusion

I bought SC4Deluxe  a few years back, but didn't play with it much. Poor grafpic card, so I am back but now giving it a go on a better grafics card. Except I have Vista now and I don't know where to put what file...so I guess I am really just a newbie.

I had too many farms so I cleaned them all out now I don't know which goes where. Where do I put these two files? ".SC4Lot" and ".dat file"? I have a lot and don't know tit from tat.

Gees I wish we had something to make all this easier to understand.

you put all downloads such as sc4lot en dat files in the plugins folder wich should be located in "my documents/SimCity4"

Hello EyeScene

In Windows Vista, the files go to your plugins folder as usual, but the path is (User)/Documents/SimCity 4/Plugins.

First off are you talking about content downloaded from the STEX (or anyplace for that matter)?  If so, once unzipped,  they will be placed in the C:\ User \ "username" \ Documents \ SimCity 4  \plugins.    occasionally (sp) the files you refer to may also be placed in the  C: \ Program Files\Maxis \ SimCity 4 Deluxe \ Plugins.

Most time if a read me file is included it will be stated within it where to place these files. If no readme file is included ( which i have been noticing a lot more) put them in the first location, the blue one.  Only place files into the red location if told so by the readme file or the creature of the file.
