Missing graphics on parks

I look at other people's cities and see all sorts of fancy graphics for parks and recreational areas. The little gazebos are actually little gazebos, there are like, swings at the playground and whatnot. All I see in my game is different colors of flat green squares. Any ideas?

Welcome to Simtropolis. PM me or others if you need help.

This sounds like a fault in the game. Can anybody else help...

It sounds like you have your graphics settings on low, if you are talking about Maxis created parks, lots, etc...

If you are talking about custom content, perhaps you are missing props and or textures...

I was wondering the same thing. I just bought the thing and thought that kind of sucked...that the gazebo and parks were just squares of green. What should it be set at,specifically. Im on an ibook.

Alright. So I see more cars n' stuff but even ramped up, there is no gazebo. Also, there's supposed to be a range circle on buildings BEFORE they're placed?? Not happening. Other weirdness here and there too. grr,

Since my MACs are not powerful enough to run SC4; I can only say on my PC.

I had to set all graphics to highest setting to see the little details, such as, swings, gazebos, etc. even on mediumset, I could only see green squares also.

O. My. God. Colour me delighted. I set my graphics higher and I can see why everyone's so wigged about this game. There are cars on the streets and little yards around the houses! Wow. And here I wondered what all the excitement was over the little green patches.

Hi,

Maxis replies the following when asked questions about graphics:

You may want to experiment with different resolutions and see if any of those alleviate the issue.

I recommend the following troubleshooting steps. Try running the Repair Disk Permissions function of the Disk Utility located in Applications/Utilities. Also, avoid installing the game to Applications or the Desktop; there are permissions conflicts that can arise when games are installed here. Games work best when they are installed in the Users/Shared folder or in a separate games folder on the top/root level of your hard drive.

If the game is not currently stored in one of the two aforementioned locations then sometimes just moving the game is not enough and it is necessary to reinstall. Reinstalling also gets rid of any game data that may have become corrupt. Be sure to trash the game's preferences files located in Home/Library/Preferences and Home/Documents when you do so. Then just trash the current copy of the game and install a new copy of SimCity 4. Then run the Rush Hour installer again. Finally, there is a patch for Rush Hour available here:

Select article #1196
This should get the game working.

Thanks for playing SimCity 4 Rush Hour and have a great day!
