How to download a map?

ok so i downloaded a few maps i wanted and i moved them to simcity4dat./regions then i used file juicer on it but when i goto the region view it still doesn't appear. Do I need to have SC4 terra former? It's a pc only software so idk what's next please help what im doing wrong in a way even complete idiots can understand. ~thanks, chicagoflo

You don't need the terraformer for maps that are released as a grayscale image. You need the terraformer only for maps in SC4F format.

For importing a map correctly you may also need to install a Height Mod - check the map's description. Also a Rock Mod, a Water Colour Mod or a Terrain Mod can improve the appearence of your region.

Check the mapping forums or the Omnibus for details. I have released a map on the STEX (search for Macedonia), the readme contains detailed instructions on importing maps, and combining a Height Mod with Terrain Mods.
