How does a poor college student get the STEX Collectors CD and DVD

I'm a college student living off my loans and I don't have any money to spare to fork out to get these disks, anyway I can get a list of their contents so I can assemble it myself from the downloads pages?

I suggest you download everything you need from the STEX, LEX, wherever...this was you can choose what you download...and it's free!!!

it would be nice to know what is on there to know what are the "important" packages (other than NAM, SimoleonRH for us $-lazies, PEG's stuff)

It all depends what do you need, and when you do figure that out, just do a search for it, and download it (I'll suggest you register on other sites as well, like SC4 Devotion, they have a pretty nice selection of BAT's also)...You can't fill your Plugins folder just like that, in one or two days, mine took almost 2 years...and I'm still not finished...just don't download any stuff which you don't use, it just slows the game down...

yeah right now i'm trying to get cleaned up from a XP to Vista upgrade (<3 being a computer science student.. site licenses for all microsoft software)

Browsing the popular downloads on the stex should do just fine. For more major alterations to gameplay, the Modds and Downloads section will have most of what you'll want.

Download them to your laptop... it's free! Here's one thing, though: Download the files that you actually need for your city in order for you to save space and enjoy SC4! Have fun and good luck!

Getting a tool (such as SC4Tool) which allows you to inspect the properties of buildings you download might prevent surprise trends developing in your city.
