True. No such thing as an official language in the US. You can speak any language you like without fear of ridicule. All those idiots with bumper stickers that say "welcome to America, now speak English" are ignorant fools. (irony of the situation is... if someone is ignorant enough to put a bumper sticker like that on their car... they probably don't use correct grammar and are therefore not even speaking English themselves. They just isn't speaking it right!

As a German, I found this thread partially embarrassing for the posters and partially entertaining. My suggestion would be that some people should read up on their facts about other countries before making weird statements! But that's just my personal opinion...
