I'm trying to find the maxis update EP1. Look at my error message when I tried to run the sc4update4bat.  And how critical is it that I get the first update?  I can't install the 2nd one.

If you have rush hour or deluxe edition you should then be good to go

to install the bat update.

1st - big caution - please don't be asking for help pirating software. We don't want to get banned from Simtropolis.

That Said, EP1 is another way of saying the "Rush Hour Expansion Pack". As the full funtionality of Rush Hour is included in "SimCity 4 Deluxe" - if you have either SimCity 4 Deluxe or the Rush Hour Expansion Pack - then you already have EP1 (if, maybe, under a different name).

If you are installing for the first time (or re-installing) the original (pre-deluxe) SimCity 4 - then to have EP1 you also need to purchase (if you haven't already done so) and install the Rush Hour Expansion pack.

The messange you are getting is a general precaution-ary message - saying that you need to have either SimCity 4 Deluxe or both SimCity 4 and Rush Hour installed AND (after installing either Deluxe or both SC4-&-RH) updated with the latest program patches from the offical EA site.

Everyone seems to get this same message - even when everything is properly installed and updated - as a sort of last extra opportunity to go back and double/triple/etc check your installation.

No I didn't pirate any software! I bought SC4 and Rush Hour separately a few years ago. I completely uninstalled everything and purged my computer of Sim City, because I couldn't get my airports to ask me to grow anymore. It would just be stuck on small int'l airport, and would get to the point where I would have to build a 2nd int'l airport to handle the demand. I knew at that point that I had bugs that I needed to lose.

Anyway, I downloaded the update from sc's web site last week, and got the graphic you saw above.

What I am really concerned about more than anything is getting my damn city to grow. They keep screaming (empty buildings) for more jobs. jobs jobs jobs. I COULD flood my map with landmarks that have jobs, but that would be too easy and ugly up my city.

One other thing is the new NAM doesn't allow interstates to max at 63,535 like it used to... unless my settings are just messed up.
