Hi i'm currently in the middle of my first project; "London Underground Trains", But before i can go any further i need some help. How exactly do i make the roofs on the subway trains more curved (too fit in with the leading train in the picture), and if possible assign "Headlights" and/or Glow up windows to the trains?

Any help appreciated.

Okay ive kinda figured out on my own, how i change the "Mesh" by messing with the s3d file, Only thing is im overwhelmed by the amount of S3D, and im kinda thinking of the old proverb "Like looking for a needle in a haystack", anyone know where the subway train s3d file in the simcity_1.dat is? Need specific Number!

This file contains a DAT file holding all the Exempler, S3D and FSH files that the subway train uses.

    Hello,

Is it possible to make an customised elevated train run in a subway system?

    Thanks! 1.gif

I always thought that the subway train and the EL train were one in the same (GLR also). When you replace the EL the subway changes also. Maybe I'm wrong but the Maxis subway always looked just like the Maxis EL. I don't have a working EL, subway or GLR running in any of my cities right now or for that matter a very long time. It would be easy to find out though. Just go get a new version off the STEX and see what happins.

Either one of these should do the trick for you. I would think any of the new GLR trams would also let you find out. I would only put in ONE of the verions though see if it changes both the EL and the subway.

Had a look at the CTA L Trains Modd.

Without have worked with Subway train but only with el/glr train here goes:
It's the OccupantGroups, which in this file are:
    Automaton,Automata: Train,Automata: Subway Engine,Automata:Vehicle

    where the el-trains has:
    Automaton,Automata: Train,Automata: El Train Engine

    To your question:
I would export the 3ds from the reader (from the el-train mod)
import it into MilkShape3d, and then export it again into a new 3ds file.

When you have imported the new 3ds file you need to correct a few number in the mod.
First click on the 3ds file. Then in the right part of the screen click on the Mats Tab.
You see some matrial names: 109A0000_wheels_TRAINS and 10660002_shadow_normal
Note the groups for this two materails/skins. Also note the groups for the car skins.
    '
Now go to the Anim tab.
Click on the plusses. Under mat block you will see only 0.

You need to figur out which groups are the body, the wheels, the shadow and so on. Change the zeroes under mat block until you get the rigth skin to show.

You can correct the Name's. In the CTA modd they are called Body, Floor, Wheels.
