Hello to everybody. Here I show you the city where I live, Quito. At about 2850 mettres above sea level, it has got a wonderful spring-like climate despite the fact it's just 20 kms south of the equatour line. It's located on a long plateau flanked by mountains and with a wonderful view of several snow-capped volcanoes.

It's a city rich in history and culture. It's got the biggest and best preserved old downtown in all american continent. In 1978, (beside Cracovia, Polony) Quito is the first city in the world declared Human Heritage by UNESCO. The city has been built right down two volcanos: Rucu Pichincha and Guagua Pichincha, the last one is active but controlled by volcanologists.

    North Downtown Quito

The modern part of the city is north the old centre of the city. This part of the city has got greater avenues and streets. As well as modern buildings. Quito hasn't got any building higher to 25 floors, this is because of the location of its international aeroport, right in the centre of the city.

    These are some modern districts:

In this one we can see Cotopaxi volcano.

Wow, what a splendid splendid city! The historical centre is beautiful and an amazing example of colonial architecture and that gothic cathedral is mouthwatering! The modern part of the city is also very impressive. I love it. Please do keep sharing your pictures!
