A few questions

So, I'm a newbie, at least on this forum, and I have decided to appeal to dedicated SimCity 4 fans who definitely know more than I can ever imagine. I have been a SimCity fan since I got my hands on SimCity 1 and SimCity 2000. I knew about this forum a few years before, but never participated in it. SimCity 4 has provided me with much tougher challenge than SimCity 3000. What I ask, is if it is possible to suggest me something, like how to improve my layout of the city, help me develop it into a better being. I dislike the usage of any kind of mods. My usual problem is that I ran out of money quite quickly. My best city, up to this day, has about 63,000 residents, 16,000 commerce and 11,000 industry. I make around 400-700 income, which is barely enough. The layout might seem horrible, yet somehow, no matter how many times I restarted, I ended up with something similar. I have attached a few pics of my city. Please tell me honestly what you think about it, and what can be done to improve it, or some city layout suggestions, etc. The pics of my city remind me the "worst cities section" in this forum. Btw, the layout used here is also heavily used by me in SimCity 3000, yet, 3000 is easier where I survive without difficulty.

My friend I see you as I was a few months back. I also know that no responses in a thread you took some time over is annoying. Anyhow - here is my suggestion:

https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=146&threadid=78505&enterthread=y

Follow that tutorial EXACTLY and begin to work its ideas and mechanics into future citys... This will help you tremendously - introduce you to multi city/region play and show you where you may be going wrong and how to do better at what you are doing right...

Practice practice practice, but this thread is truly your one stop shop to city success...

In my opinion, the key to successs is don't think about the individual city -- Think regionally.

Then you will have many more possibilites....

THX for the advice. I have attached some SimCity 3000 Unlimited pics to show you the difference in my city development, yet same type of planning. Oh, and the income I get there is about $20,000 per year, since 3000 is based on the yearly schedule. I'm more interested in developing a self-sufficient city without relying much on other regions.

    I have another answer~

    1. Stop zoning in HUUUUUUUUUUUGE blocks. Instead, just lay out a couple at a time.

    2. Add some parks!

    3. Stop using the trains everywhere! Just one or two lines will do fine. [i never use any mass transit and still have cities with 600,000]

    4. When demand for High Tech Industry [i-ht] gets higher than 2000 or so, increase the tax for Dirty industry [i-d] to 20%. This will tax it out of your city. Then demolish all of it and let it go. [Putting parks in your industrial districts helps too]

    Hope this helps and yeah........
