Unos - Welcome to ST! Enjoy your stay.

Dos - For your problemo, there's really not much one can help with in a single post. You see, there are so many things that could be causing these problems around your city... (Also, if I get it wrong, please clarify your problem, as it's a bit vague for now, could be anything really...)

Follow this checklist, it should help with the more common problems.

1 - Are your Residential zones provided with all the amenities? Education, Health, Police and Fire are the four basic ones you absolutely need for your city to get anywhere, anytime. Not just placing them is enough, you need to place them for maximun coverage with their radiuses, and then adjust funding for the perfect capacities. (Not for Fire, though, reducing its funding will cause Strikes, even with 5% decrease. Better to leave them alone.)

2 - Do they have enough jobs? If you get zots (circular red signs) above your resident houses with brown briefcases in them, then you don't have enough jobs provided to your citizens. Check your city, and any connected cities, for jobs and their capacities of employment - check how much Industrial, AND Commercial you have. Many make the grave mistake of only adding Industrial, or only Commercial, when you really need both for a healthy city to prosper. Also, make sure your jobs (Ind & Com) are also happy and healthy.

EDIT – I forgot to add, check which Residential Wealth types (poor R$ / medium-class R$$ / rich bastards R$$$) have said zots. I understand you mostly have problems with your R$$. When a particular occupant type, or wealth, seems stricken with these zots more than any others, than your jobs are simply not right for their wealths. Rich R$$$ Sims won't be happy working as janitors, and poor R$ won't cope with becoming CEO's, you know? To increase the demand for better paying jobs, all you can do is BANK ON EDUCATION. More schools, more funding, more coverage, more results! Smarter Sims want better jobs, which attracts said jobs, which allows more smart Sims... etc. A beautiful cycle has begun.

3 - Check your commutes. Even if you have more than enough jobs for them, if the road to get there is too long, or the traffic is too high, they won't get to work on time and be fired, which starts a long chain reaction leading to you losing citizens as they leave to find work elsewhere. If the roads are too long, make some Residential and Industrial closer (or Commercial). If the roads are traffic-clogged, make more roads or use Mass Transit (always helpful, plus they bring money with fares! Yay!).

4 - If they have enough jobs and the road to get them there is fine, then maybe they just don't like their neighborhood. Check the Desirability maps, see if everyone's happy. Adding services (the Four Basics noted above), Rewards, and Parks will quickly gain their respect for you and your city.

This is all I can think of for now. In the end, if you just want the detailed versions of what I said above, or all the other possible causes, then you'd do well to head to the Omnibus (the link is at the top of the site), and check the dozens and dozens of articles, tutorials and how-to's it holds. Many newbies become Pros simply after perusing them a bit, I'm not kidding. I know I did.

Sorry for the late, and long, reply... Hope it all helps. Looking forwards to hearing from you!

You don't have a lot of commercial districts. Do you have good water coverage? Also, you may want to try to put the landfill in a neighboring city, as this will not attract the R$$ people.

Thanks, shmohel! Thing is, I know only too well the pains and frustration of asking for help, then waiting fruitlessly when no-one does... *stares around pointedly* That's the very checklist I myself use to diagnose my cities' problems, as they always seem to have some...
