the cliff house is beautiful and all the small little things in the golden gate park (tea house, windmill and so on) let it look great, too. even when it doesn't have lakes. i really like the trees all around.

    The San Francisco Zoo (D-2)

As you drive south from the western edge of Golden Gate Park, along Ocean Beach, you will come upon the San Francisco Zoo.  Opened in 1929 the zoo is home to hundreds of animals, many of them endangered, residing on a 70-acre space.  Some of the animals include koalas, monkeys, apes, giraffes, big cats, bear and penguins. During the 1980s the zoo was blessed to have Great Pandas on loan from China.  On Christmas Day of 2007 tragedy struck the zoo when a Siberian tiger escaped it’s grotto and attacked 3 young men, one fatally, before it was shot and killed by the SFPD.  The zoo has since reopened and remains committed to public safety and animal preservation throughout the world.  In the future, look for new exhibits such as an elephant range and an ape forest.  While visiting the zoo make sure to watch out for peacocks roaming the paths.

    Mission Dolores (E-6)

As you descend down into the Mission District you will notice a neighborhood unlike any other in San Francisco.  Mission Dolores, as it has become known, was the first settlement in San Francisco and remains as it’s oldest standing building.  The Spanish mission was founded in 1776 and moved a few blocks west 15 years later.  It was from these early roots that San Francisco grew into the city we know today.  Although damaged, the mission survived the 1906 earthquake and firestorm.  The mission is open to tours and regular church service along with the new basilica next door.

Looks really good! And neat that you stuck with the rowhouses, which make up an incredible amount of the housing there (I used to live in San Francisco). Looking forward to more!

The parking lots next to the zoo look great, and I'm impressed once again with this update. Nice combination of buildings next to the mission, that whole block looks awesome. I'll be looking forward to next update, because I'm a big Giants fan! 9.gif

Oh, just wondering, what bus stop/mass transit are you using? (both the stop and whatever is making the road median striped)

    Thanks! Looks great!

i've never examined the default sc4 zoo. did you make your own or is it the original one? nevermind, it looks really nice and greatly situated.

your mission dolores conserved the history. nice arrangement of the different houses. thumbs up

First off, Sorry for the lack of updates lately - I was out of town for a week and have been pretty busy lately.

    jacqulina:  Thanks

penguin007:  Thanks, welcome to the CJ

hijodecordoba:  Thanks.  The Cliff House in my CJ more closely resembles one of the earlier versions.

Tigerplayer91:  Hmm . . . I thought I saw you lurking in the shadows.  Anyway, thanks for the words of encouragement.

    Edmonton_stinks:  Thanks

The Arrowz:  Yes lots of rowhomes.  For the most part the neighborhoods, in my journal, are separated by the different types of rowhomes.

Ky72x:  Thanks. Sorry it took awhile for the AT&T update – took awhile to figure out the walkway beyond right field.

The Arrowz:  Pretty sure the transit pack is this one . It’s in the modds and downloads section.

Hijodecordoba (6/18):  It’s pretty much the default zoo with parking and some different trees.

The following update is the final installment of the 49 Mile Drive.  There are a couple of places I wanted to include but never did.  If I get around to it I will insert those into the appropriate location on the drive.  The next couple of updates will be screenshots of the remaining neighborhoods and other nice pictures.  I have 4 that are pretty much ready to upload so the next update should be soon.  After that will be chapter 5 - The Silicon Valley.  Don't be sad the journal will return to SF for the Scenic Highway 1 chapter.

    AT&T Park (D-8)

After years of playing at the notoriously cold Candlestick Park the San Francisco Giants finally had a new home in China Basin for the start of the 2000 baseball season.  Located at 24 Willie Mays Plaza the privately financed stadium is considered one of the most beautiful baseball parks in the country.  The short fence in right field offers the opportunity for balls hit down the right field line to end up in the bay, or McCovey Cove to be more specific.  If you aren’t lucky enough to have tickets, or just don’t want to fork over your hard earned dough, you can view the games for free by looking though the right field fence at field level.  The “baseball only” stadium does host concerts from time to time and also is home to the Emerald Bowl (college football) each December.  When attending a game come early and enjoy the many shops and restaurants in the newly revitalized area just south of downtown and help the Giants celebrate their 50 years in San Francisco.

I just read through your CJ. I looks great. I grew up in SF and now live in Marin County, so I want to see how this project turns out.

Looks great. Talk about difficult terrain to build on. I browsed through the pages and didn't see it, but, do you have any shots of the famous Lombard St.? That must've been a chore!

Your city is so beautiful. How do you get everything to grow so perfectly?

I love the missions too. Love to see more! 9.gif

Nice pair of updates. I liked the info on AT&T Park, even though I knew most of it, I thought that it was very detailed and to the point. 3.gif While we're on that subject, I'm going to a couple of Giants games this weekend. It's been a while since I've gone, so I'm looking forward to it. 9.gif

The rowhomes look awesome! The occasional stores in between the apartments were quite clever, and the retail W2W lined streets made this area another example of your knack for realism. Great work on Nob Hill, too. That tunnel really caught my attention. 4.gif

I was wondering when you'd begin to show some rowhouses. The Sunset looks incredible. I think it's my favourite picture.
