I used to stick with a few English city/town names

I've just started a new region though which I've called Namaste. All city names will be Lost themed and then i'm planning to do something special with a certain little island off the coast

Or you could take names from games or TV

For example, I named my city, Oured (after Oured in AC5)

Or Port St. Hewlett, Farbanti, ect.

Anywho, I just generally make up such creative names as Smoggiton (industrial center with no population at all), Barlyiston (farming town), and New Perdition (disaster town with craters and volcanoes everywhere).

i got many names for my largest cities, like the capitol of my country (in-game) is Alexandria, after my BFF.

the largest city is named after me- Joshua City

port towns are called things like Pacifica, Atlantica, Arctica and names of other bodies of water with -a suffix or another like it.

some towns are named after family members, one is after my middle name and one after my last, some are named for special girls in my past, my favorite historical figures, and such.

some just seem to fit with the type of city im building, like a dirty industry town named Welton.

or how about colonial hills for an upscale, beverly hills like town? or possibly a hi tech industry town called Technetia?

some are just plain random and out of my head after a few minutes of thought, such as a hi density residential town called Tollandra.

as for mayor names i like to give them long fancy names since the mayors of my cities are from the nobility of my country. like-

Gerard Remington Smithers IV, or

Julianne Marina Kellis, Esq.

I usually name them after towns in my county, or after friends or girls that I like. I like adding tributes to people I know, such as writing their names with water pipes, streets, etc. You can get some pretty interesting layouts from that!

And sometimes a city ending by a land things like Black Bay City , Rogers Hill and Lobster points.

My cities are mostly named after other cities I've lived near, or just named after areas that sounded like a good name.

I name them after cities in books and movies. I also name them after me . Ex: Andrewtropia, Andrewville, and Andrewburg.

thanks taybaxter i hoped somebody would like them, coming up with them is fun, and saying them is even more fun, up there with the ranks of saying the names of chinese food, especially when u say them with a really snobby stuck up voice, i crack my little brother up all the time with some of those, he always asks me where the hell i come up with them.

Hi all,

I want to make big cities, which in SC4 means that you have to build cities that together make a big one. I tend to name my main cities after my region name (like region name: Octavia, city name: Octavia). My inspiration for the main city in my region, are the names of some gorgeous people (women) I met in my life and who have become wonderful friends. I am planning to meet some of them soon again. For suburbs I often use an atlas or map and sometimes I use a theme, like musicians, politicians, artists, geography, mythology or a mixture of all of those.

When I build regions, I first just establish cities and build nothing. The agglomeration cities will be named like "(main city name ) - city name" (example: Octavia - Astoria) and the other cities in the region will get their own names (and mayors). After that I start planning and building.

I dont like naming my cities after my name. I think that is cheap.

I like to name the mayor names after myself and people I know.. I actually prefer to name a lot of cities with ALT+255 to make a blank character as my town name many times though to signifiy they are part of the other city.
