Yes it is kind of sad, but the woman did resist arrest. The cop was just doing his job. Resist an officer, and that officer will do anything he can to detain that person. The officer had no idea the woman was pregnant, so I really believe he is innocent.49.gif

This incident wasn't an overdo, in my opinion. When they resist arrest, the cop has to do his jobs and stop the women no matter her condition, and I agree with what OffTopic said, I doubt he knew she was pregnant.

Agree she resisted. Headlines could just as well read officer kills unborn infant after he attempted to restrain her by jumping on her back. We certainly don't want to give pregnant females the right everywhere to resist and walk away in fear we may potentially harm an unborn child that we do not even know existed in the first place.

As far as your comment Smarty cops overdo Taser's that is absurd and you are generalizing a few isolated incidents as a whole. Do you have any idea how many officers still do not even have Tasers in America? How about the number that has them and what is their arrest ratio per Taser deployment. I am telling you know I have carried one for over a year and I have had not a single incident where I personally have deployed one.

That's not saying they were not deployed. But the three times I have been in a physical confrontation while initating an arrest I was sure glad to get things over in a hurry versus risking injury to myself or the suspect; especially when we are rolling along traffic that is moving 70 miles per hour plus within inches of your head as you fight to win the battle.

It just goes back to the old rule if you do not want force used against you do not give someone a reason to use such force.

The problem with all of the taser news as of late is that in the beginning, there was some poor judgment used in a couple of incidences involving tasers and these incidences were publicized. Now that the public is aware that tasers can harm you, everyone and their dogs are on the lookout to spot a cop tasing someone. The same was also the case after the Rodney King beating, for months all you saw on the news was a slew of cops smacking around various people for various reasons.

People need to realize that cops are authorized to use tasers when the need arises, just like they are authorized to give people a beat down if they deem it necessary. I get tired of hearing about all of this crap because I know that the vast majority of police officers are doing a very good job and these media outbreaks do nothing but raise panic and fear in the very people that are employed to protect them.

I am not saying that all cops are great people or great law enforcers but I will say that they deal with situations and are forced to make on the spot decisions that none of us ever have to deal with. Sure, they make goofs every now and again, they are human. But they are humans under a great deal of pressure and scrutiny and I feel for them.

Having said all of that, don't resist arrest and odds are pretty good that your not going to get the crap tased out of you or beaten up.
