Help with missing text in SimCity

I recently installed a few plugins, and now some text in SimCity is missing (it displays something resembling an eyechart or nothing at all). What can I do to solve this problem?

Welcome to ST, anf the forums windowsvistafan.  I would start by removing the plugins to see if that is the problem. If it is then add the plugins one or two at a time until you find which one causes the problem.

I removed all plugins (except the NAM, it was installed long before this problem started, and I didn't really want to remove it), however text (and music) is still missing.

I had a quick dig around the Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4 folder, and found the music files are still there - perhaps it's a corrupt Registry key?

Have you tried a new region, and new city to see if you have the text back?

You might try installing the update patch again, if that doesn't work you may need to start with a fresh install. You can keep the documents folder, but make sure the problem isn't in one of the plugins.

Other regions and cities didn't work, and neither did reinstalling the update.

Save your regions and plugins, then do a full uninstall/reinstall.  Make sure you get the leftover content, and clear out the registry.
