Wierd Travels throughout region

Okay....I have 4 large cities developed and are all connected.

AB

CD

 

In that order.

A is a rural city with a few farms

B is an industrial city.

C is a mega commercial city surrounded by Residential

D is a mixed city with mostly residents and a large industrial area. This was my starter city.

I have a ferry traveling from D to B but there are no ferry terminals in B.

Sims are traveling by car and bus from C through D and then through B to reach a destination in the lower right corner of A. That's almost a full circle even though I have a monorail system going from C to A and also a highway.

The sound of crickets is heard along the railroad throughout city B. I mean NO one is taking the train into this city to work. Neither are they taking the convenient highway from D to B, instead there's a crapload of buses cramming through an avenue to get into the city in one corner.  This is a Freight Truck City.

I have the latest NAM installed. Is there an option in NAM that is suited for traveling between large cities........or are Sims just dumber than a bag of hammers?

Demand in all RCI areas are up!

PS....I am really interested to know about the ferry thing.

install nam with perfect pathfinding.

oh and build more schools

You have to have at least two ferry terminals to make the system work. They don't have to be in the same city. But you have to have at least two. With open water between cities I use ferries a lot and they move a lot of people.

If I un-install and reinstall NAM with different pathfinding than I have now, will it have any negative affect on my cities? My commercial city is really big with close to 700,000 residents and a massive MT system.

As for the ferries, as I said....there are NO ferry terminals in city B. So why are they traveling there by ferry, and where are they going???? I checked my route query in city B and there is no ferry activity in there.
