Pulled out my old copy I got from 2004.

It works great on my laptop.

Fails on my desktop:

Happened in Vista, did all the recomended stuff and still no go, so reformated in XP just to play this, as I love this game again and I like playing on my laptop but I want to play it at home too.

Anyways the crash seems to be the same;

Already did the following

-Dual core disabled

-Vista (Windows XP compatability)

-Patched

-All plugins removed

-Complete fresh install

-Installed Direct X9.0c XP

-Updated drivers with cleaner in between, Both ATI and Omega

-Prayed to 3 gods

-Vram set to 2GB-4GB

*EDIT -1*

-Patched XP to SP2

*EDIT-2*

-Removed Sound.Dat file

*EDIT - 3*

-Ran Memtest +86 1.70v, No errors.

*EDIT - 4*

-Ran in software mode ( Shortcut add " -d:software" )

-Ran in windowed mode ( Shortcut add " -w )

-changed resolution to 4:3 Ratio ( 800X600 ), normally 1920X1200 ,16:10 Ratio

I have no idea what to do 15.gif

Gone through 1 hour of using the search feature.

Thanks for the help.

Very nice, complete data.  Did you try running in software rendering mode?  Use the option -d:software on the command line and start from the shortcut.  Don't forget to put a space in front of the option.

    Solved the problem.

Seems there is something wrong with my DVD-Rom drive, as the game runs perfect on my laptop and not on my desktop, after applying a No-CD crack it launched right away.

    Thanks for the help.

I hope this post doesn't brake any rules on the forum (mentioning No-CD cracks), if it is I will remove it shortly.

I think the main problem with the NOCD patch is that is messes up some other addons.  You would be better off to copy your play disk (backup copy, of course) into a virtual CD on your hard drive and mount it.
