First CJ: Osterport

Allright this is my first crack at making a CJ. Hope you like what I have done so far. Only my second city in SC4 so give me some tips. The city is called Osterport.

The population is at about 20,000 right now. I plopped that one mid rise black buliding in the background. I am begining to build a highway kinda in the middle part of the map. You can see where the first tunnel has been dug.

Looks pretty good....I like how theres not much of a grid....Also your highway is o.k. get some side walls...Marrest,jeronj etc......

Also work on getting com jobs....
 
Raise education and have water....Health and police....but not all at once....Let your bugdet grow first....Also the N.A.M. will help....44.gif

    I have the NAM. My budget is not balanced at the moment. I am running about 1,000 to much, so I have to let things grow until I am making a profit.

    How would I make the people want more commercial zones? All they seem to want it Industrial.

    I have found that the commercial demand is always low in a new city, but once you get to where you are now, I would find a well-travelled road, place a plaza or two, zone for it, and they will build on it - the busier the traffic in the area you zone, the more successful it should be. When doing urban areas, I like to use commercial to seperate the industry from residential - that causes the sims to have to go through the commercial area to get to work.

    Also, the water that Cjah suggested should increase your demand for commercial since the areas you water will increase in value and population.

    Hope that helps, but again, I like what you have so far - lots of diagonal roads adds to the realism - looks great!
