Just stagers my mine what some people are capable of.

I've been following this and it has got to be one of the most heinous crimes to a person that I've read about in a long time. (in fact, I was gonna post it here, but I was left speechless after reading it.) What's even stranger is the fact that one of the reasons that they aren't being charged with hate crimes is because she had a relationship previously with the son! The six involved had something like 108 previous arrests including the mother's arrest for murder on which she pled to a lesser charge. I guess it's just some good ol' trailer-trash family fun on a slow week.

It's cases like this where I wish the "eye for an eye" principle could be applied. Put these (enter descriptive word of choice here) pieces of crap in a shed for years and torture them like they tortured her. Feed 'em rat and dog turds 3 times a day. If the word "incorrigable" ever applied to anyone, it would be to these pus-hearted cretins. A warped mind (and I use the term "mind" advisedly) like that cannot be "cured" or rehabilitated. May they rot forever in hell.

May God bless that girl. (Though I ask myself "Why was she there?")

To ask a question I seem to be asking a lot lately:  what is wrong with these people?

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytizing.    - Pope Francis

I am shocked! wow. Virginia still has alot of racism towards blacks down there. People should realize, we are all equal...YES even the native Indian tribes. lol, its just funny. We have an LDS ARAB (mormon, yea) family and after 9/11 everyone stopped talking to them and going to their house. & I asked one of the neighbors what their deal was and they mentioned some bull crap about 9/11 and i said "hey ain't you german?". "Why, yes" and i started mentioning Hitler and how the Germans are "bad" people for letting all that crap happen with the jews....just being sarcastic. but yea he got the point. DUMBasses... I swear society hasn't matured much the past couple hundred years.

I saw it on page 2 of The Washington Post this morning and felt shocked for some time (and I see some bad stuff in DC on a regular basis). Two thoughts kept coming to me, 1)How would the media react if the victim was white, and 2)evil and evil people exists in this world, no analysis needed.

Racism in its various forms exists all over the world.  Virginia isn't at all unique in that regard.

I'm not absolutely certain to what extent the story would have been publicized had the victim been the same race as the alleged filthy rotten scumbags.  It's entirely possible that if the victim had been white and did not have a history with any of the criminals then the story would have been considered just as newsworthy as it is.  I am fairly certain that the criminals in this case will receive harsher punishments based on the fact that their victim was of a different race.  While I approve of the harshest punishment possible for these lowlifes, I can't help but recall this quote from the Southpark tv show..."If you're going to commit a crime...make damn sure the victim is the same race as you." (paraphrased)

Would this crime be any less heinous if it was clearly not racially motivated? No, of course not.  Those sick twisted rejects could be the most racially enlightened  individuals in America and I would still  say their crime deserves the harshest punishment possible.

While Racism may be evil,  Evil is certainly not racist.

Things just seem to be getting worse in terms of violence, racism, and just about everything else. 21.gif

Ditto; we really never did see much of this stuff in the middle ages. 3.gif

Well I'd like to think why the reason this story didn't make the front page of the Post or get the attention in CNN, MSNBC, FoxNews or Google & Yahoo news pages like other stories of deep or suspected personal victimization have is that they didn't want to shine a lot of publicity on the human garbage that perpetrated the acts and to also respect the victim's privacy.... Eh, yeah.21.gif

As a former Black West Virginian i would like to say that this isnt the norm... as it isnt the norm anywhere else...

Yes in Logan they are little bit more out there than most but its usually not like that.... some of the most nicest people i know come from WV and hopefully you guys don't generalize us together...

As for the crime itself... that is just horrible... i wouldnt wish that on my enemies... i hope she can recover mentally from this traumatizing experience...

Let's refrain from using explatives, even though it looks disguised.....

Quite frankly, I am not shocked myself...being a gay man, I can see the hatred. I am very much an active leader in my community. I like to teach acceptance. One day hopefully, this will all change....until then...we need to spread education.

Cus if you think about it. This doesnt matter in a 100 years....we will all be gone, but let's lay down a legacy of love.....simple? NO. Easy? NO,. Tolerable? YES!!!!   4.gif

I'm not quite sure if I agree with you there. Just because Global Warming might fry us up in a matter of time, doesn't mean we shouldn't care about our last moments, whether they really are our last moments, or not. 1.gif

ah, i'd like to thank west virginians for all this nice electricity i'm using to power my computer (and house for that matter).

=/, I thought the sole reason west virginia broke away from virginia was because of slavery.

I find that rather offensive. I have a lot of friends who live in trailers, and even I have lived in one for many many years. There is nothing wrong with it at all, please don't assume that just because a person is trailer trash means they are poor, moral-less idiots.

Not exactly, the reason was more so the regional and cultural differences of the two areas rather than slavery. West Virginia had been wanting to secede from Virginia for a very long time, long before slavery was the issue.

A hate crime non-the-less but I wonder why these people aren't already in prison if they had really had that many prior arrests.

I second that. I lived in a trailer for 2 years, it was actually a lot of fun and saved a ton of money. My electricity bill was $12 a month! There were some real freaks, but also some very decent people who were just poor. I still remember falling asleep to the sound of rain on that aluminum roof painted with Sno-coat.

Let no one yield, we're on the field where deeds eclipse the sun; where the brave are told on a thread of gold, the tapestry is spun. As they speak of dreams, their armor gleams, this calm before the storm... Where all can see their destiny, the bishop takes the pawn.
