Building and Commute Problems

Hello,

Can anyone please help. I have been downloading buildings from the STEX but when I go into my game and place them on the map the buildings are not there - its just the accessories (i.e. the streetlamps, basketball court etc) even though the buildings have full populations. My second problem is that after a few month all the peoples in the buildings leave due to commute time even when I try placing them bang next to commercial or industrial sections and place loads of bus stops. I have downloaded about 6 buildings and both problems I mentioned occur on all except one as the big 6 building appears on the map but the people still leave due to commute time.

I have downloaded into a separate folder and then unzipped it into the plugin folder in my documents / sim city 4 - am I doing anything wrong - any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ploppable residentials just do not work, they will always abandon, due to the fact the game can't compute the travel time. The sims don't ever leave the building.

About the buildings, you may need the "Bldgprop_vol1.dat, and Bldgprop_vol2.dat" in the plugins folder.

Ok cheers. The reason I wanted to use ploppable residential buildings was so that I could have distinctive districts with more or less all the same types of building in but with a proper population that is taxable and so on. Is the only way round this to wait for similar buildings to appear and make them historical or is there another way. Please say there's another way.

You don't open them, just copy them into the My Documents\Simcity4\plugins folder.
