placing new buildings

this may be a stupid question, but i'm a newbie to sim city....how do you get new buildings to appear in the game??? i downloaded several buildings and placed them in the plugins folder(my documents). however, they only appear in the landmarks folder. some of them do appear, such as mcdonalds, borders, pizza hut, but how do i get the others to show up without me having to place them???

Well did you check if the other buildings were growable?

of course i did.....downloaded them from the exchange and made sure that they were growable. i see pics of other people's towns and they have real buildings(downloaded these same buildings). how do i get these in my towns???

Ya' gotta plop unless they say growable when you download them. In fact, most BATs are plops.

Growables will appear when the time has come for them to grow. It is the game who decides when and where and not you. All you do is zone the areas for them. Ploppables can be found in any menu on the side and can be plopped by yourself only. They don't grow.

A lot of CJ'ers have their own private custom lots that they plopp as they wish. I myself have over 600.
