I currently have a city with over 20-30 thousund people and another city in one of the areas next to it that is all jobs with a powerplant etc. I had a job shortage fast from the get go and lowered dirty industry and manufacturing taxes to almost 0% to encourage more jobs to come in. This helped but never fixed my job shortage and I had to raise taxes back up to 20%on ID to keep from being in debt. Now my city has a Elementarty school,High school,College and a University but the demand for IHT is low and no HT will move in to that industrial city. So I made a new industrial city and got alot of jobs fast from ID and IM but still not enough to fix my debt. I have bus stops and parking garages in all of my cities and recently built a landing strip to encourage industrial growth but no go. Many people with out work and buildings are being abondoned due to commute time despite me having avenues and bus stations. I dont know what to do. I currenty have around 15 thousund jobs if my memory serves me correct. 

Any help on how to fix this would be apreciated. I am trying the main stratigy from the Omnimbus guide about having a CBD and multiple cities for population growth to support the CBD so any other tips would be usefull. I also cheated and used the cheat to unlock all buildings but only added in the research center because I hate cheating and dont want to use it any more than I have to. The research center in my city is not helping increase the demand for IHT let alone do anything. My university and high schools both have only a few students in them. Why is this?

What kind of connections do you have between the cities?  Are all the Sims in a residential/commercial city?  Do you have the NAM?

Can you show us some screen shots of these cities, preferably with the demand stats showing?

Oh, and please remember that there are over 180,000 people on here, and getting to one of these can easily take more than a day.

try highways for commute time and for hte residentle quesiton it takes along time before oyu get ot high wealth moving in. and high tech wont go near dirty industry

I am just going to start over. People are moving out fast and my city is in huge debt now because of this. My problem was I tried to get a big city to fast while using the make easy money guide and at the same time kept zoning residential because the demand was high so I got to many people and not enough jobs.

Will just start over and try again. Got a few tips reading the guide again anyways.
