Hey guys, I've been playing SC for a long time, but just recently started browsing the STEX and dLing amazing buildings and such. Anyways, I wanted to know what the difference was b/t a ploppable and growable building? I tried looking for a thread bout this, but couldn't find one. What are advantages and disadvantages to each one? Thanks!

theres no threads on this because most people here know it . A plopable building is a lot that when downloaded will show up in your landmarks menu in the game. A growable building is a lot that will pop up when you zone areas.

Okay, this may seem like another naive question, but I'm in the same sort of situation... I've just started browsing some of the downloadable stuff here, and there are a lot of cool things that I'd like to include in my cities.

The ploppable stuff is no problem - I just add it in and put it where I want.

But what about the growable stuff? After I download it, do I just have to try and tune my city to get the right conditions for the building to grow, and then hope it appears? Is there not any surer way of making sure I get what I want...? Just don't want to end up frustrated by not being able to get cool growable buildings to actually grow...!

Or maybe I'm just being over lazy and wanting everything to be handed on a plate... 43.gif)

    Pretty much.

You can restrict the contents of your plugins folder and use the tileset mod in conjunction with the no maxis mods, and selective bulldozing to help get the look you want. But you do have to be reasonably skilled at balancing both your plugins folder and your city's growth, and have a fair knowledge of the plugins you are using and what should grow and when.
