Someone asked if this scenario would work.  I said I doubted it.

Scenario:

Large, fully developed city with all the requirements met for I-HT (and therefore Co§§§).

Can you develop a neighbor city with all I-HT?

I don't believe it would be possible even with a fully developed city it just doesn't seem possible the neighboring city would have economy problems this sort of thing happens to me all the time.

i've been able to develop a an all IHT/IM city. i mean im still in the hole about 4000 a month, but its catching up. i have alot of mass transit now that those workers are actually using which is helping to supplement my income. so i think it is possible. espcially if you take in trash as well like in the corner. even with all my parks/flower gardens to keep pollution, i think i can manage to sustain itself.

I have cities that are mostly HT, with a little commercial scattered around.   They can have a positive cash flow if they have a hydrogen power plant and sell power to neighboring cities.

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytizing.    - Pope Francis

Toll booths on your connecting highways and roads, and have a surplus of water to sell. Subways will eventually also turn some profit. Very possible, but you gotta tax the other guys

Of course this scenario would work. I've done it many times in the past and am currently using in my region. All you need to do is ensure that a good supply of I-HT demand exists. In the neighbor, raise I-D and I-M taxes to 20%. Create industrial zones, making sure that they are watered, away from pollution, that they have parks, and that they are near a neighbor connection (use the one to the large city.) Run the game at Cheetah speed until you have satisfactory development.

I agree, I also do this regularly. Usually I keep I-D and I-M in one city and I-HT in another. To make it profitable, the above mentioned tips are all useful. And if it's a medium map, one can even produce power in a forested corner, no cheats or mods needed. Usually the deamand for I-HT rises so high at some point, though, that one can tax it pretty heavily and still keep it in town.

I toll trucks in all my industrial areas. I use the freight truck blocker lots so I can force all the trucks through one tolled exit point. Since I started that process, I've never had an industrial city lose money.

Ive done this scenario several times. i usually have my main large city, a neighbor that is all I-D and I-M and takes all of the big city's garbage, and another I-HT city as well. i do this to maximise the land used for commercial and residential development in the main city as well as to limit pollution. when i get enough I-HT in my neighbor city, i build a hydrogen power plant and sell power to my large main city. it is entirely possible.

I work with that scenario as well oO

But I've got a question:

High Wealth people wont work on IHT, even if they are placed neighboring it. Mid Wealth will pick HT as a job only as a last option, or at least it seems so.

Help plox

Yeah, I've done it a few times and I still have one or two cities that are all (or at least 90%) HT. Strangely enough, they developed mostly by accident. They started as all industry with mostly I-D and I-M. As I developed neighbour cities and the R$$$ population grew in these cities, I-HT demand rose. I then opened the industrial city and within a month, the entire city was covered with scaffolding and all of the pre-existing industry was replaced by I-HT. They've been there for hundreds of years now and they're still thriving.

Zarp: I sort of agree with you that high wealth residents might not work in IHT zones, however, high wealth residents are usually those that are highly educated. High wealth people come in with there is good health coverage, and education coverage. I mean they can go work for commercial areas, but I've seen many work in IHT. But then does your statement mean that low wealth residents will work in IHT? I mean that can be answered yes, because they can be educated as well. Hmm. I'm confused now.

Thats what happens with me.. I have High Wealth buildings close to HT industry, they would just cross the avenue! But they wont work, they will rather take the highway to work on commercial on the neighbour city.

Mid-Wealth, however, will work on IHT.

Low Wealth wont work on IHT, just like High Wealth.

Thats what happens with me =|
