The Highplains Islands are a group of  Islands located in the Atlantic ocean.  They are a spawling Metropolis with many problems.  The major problem is the trafic from Island to Island.

This was the previous capital of this region.  It was changed due to the area being to small for what was needed to keep the region growning at a steady rate.  One of the many things located in this area is the city college, known as Jasper College.  Also in this area is the first High Volume water plant of High plains Islands.  It serves the entire Region.

Some other proof of this being the previous Capital of Highplains Islands (HPI) is the Resort hotel located in this area.  As we speak many people are trying to get this hotel moved to a different location.

I don't really have much custom content, only the stuff you can download on simtropolis.  This is due to the fact that I am unskilled at creating things and also the capacity of my computer.  But thank you for the criticism.

yeah i agree with amerikaner, it must have been very tricky to build in such a small area. it looks great so far, my only suggestion would be some custom content maybe. other than that great job so far!

Thanks, the sea walls Idea is great, the only problem is that I would need to delete some plots8.gifHighplainIslands-Aug.png

The Island Continues with what was farm lands now converted to and Industrial Park.  There still remain two Farms, one of which is visible in this picture.  The Resort was built in this part of town because it was believed (because the irregular shape of the Island) that most of the traffic would arrive by train.  In later years, a subway line was extended to allow passengers to get to and from the train station.

A closer look at the Resort shows how close the Train Station is to it.  You can also see the Tourist Attraction located 'conveniently' close to it

An interesting (single, large?)  amp (but what about the region?)

Not easy to build on with all these bridges and the problems related to them.

But there IS a lot to do here ....

    1. General hint: Don't post PNGs -convert them to JPG. This way a 800*600 pic's filesize is smaller hence loads faster  than your rather small PNG-files. You may do it with paint but unless zou don't have any other elaborate graphics suite I would recommend the small and free Irfanview.

    2. Get a slope mod. The original ingames slopes are way too steep.

    3. Do a bit more terraforming - i.e.  make flat ore smoothly sloped terraces.

    4. Add more trees, trees, trees, trees and bushes. Did I already said you need more trees?

    5.  Get some custom content to break through the game's monotony. You'll see there are special lots / BATs for almost every thing available ....

    6. Especially get some retaining walls. The classic ones are Jeroni's walls over at SC4Devotion.

    7. Methinks you don't have the NAM. Get it!

Nardo has some good ideas. Your islands have great potential. The nice thing about SC4 is that you can redo stuff pretty easily. Maybe you might try ferries between some islands? Also, smoothing the terrain by drawing rodas over it first will allow for more land for development.

    Welcome to the CJ section!

Wow this looks like a tough terrain, i certainly wouldn't have turned it into a metropolis, This CJ looks very promising, and I'm sure as jacqulina said this will get much better as you discover more things, however it does look like your islands are filled already.

Looks excellent for the terrain your building on. I like the ideo of it being on tiny islands. Looks great. You could probably find some trees or buildings on the STEX that look more like the island theme if thats what your going for. Good job.

Thanks for the advice everyone, I wish you all were my advizers in the game, lol.  I will try to put more trees, but it will be difficult due to Overpopulation!

I continue by showing the rest of this Island, which serves mainly as a connection point to two other regions, Romanello Island and Doña Darcy.   In the picture below, you see Doña Island at the bottom and Hiberian (the first Island Introduced) at the top right.  There will be more pictures of hiberian introduced soon!

    HighplainIslands-Jun-1.png

Doña Darcy is the focal point of most things in this region.  With the small International Airport, Fader International Airport, it is the entry point for most travel into this region.

    HighplainIslands-Aug-1.png

Located in the main part of town,  The Palacio Real is the second home for the mayor and other importaint figures while they stay in Doña Darcy.  Located next to the Palacio is City hall and a Soccer Field.  In order to serve the mass of people going to and from that gerneral area, builders decided to place a Road-Subway station seen in the picture.

    HighplainIslands-Mar.png

Also Located in this Area is the First and only University of this region.  Manhattan College serves all Islands and many other regions.

    HighplainIslands-Oct-1.png

Near the Airport there is a connection to a peninsula called Gebraltar.  Although it is a small Island it contains many Commercial Buildings and also has a spaceport for Weekly launches to the moon and space stations.

    NEWS UPDATE!

This month the resort was finally completed.  Ocated now  in Romanello Island, it is easier to get to from the airport.  Although there are no public transit stations near the Resort, plans are now set forward to create a subway line stoping near the resort.

    HighplainIslands-Nov-1.png

Also this month the first Hyd. Power plant was built!

    HighplainIslands-Jun.png

In addition, a Minor League Soccer stadium was built.  It will soon be ready for use by the public.

Well... I don't really know what to say. I think my best advice would be look around. Downloading more is sure a good idea. If you are going to feature maxis original rewards I'd sugest to put some eyecandy around it (again download). The eyecandy you put around these building will make them more interesting. After 4 years playing the game there is a big difference between beginners and experienced players. Don't get down you have the advantage that all the information is available to you. The downside is that many people's expectations have become very very high. Keep going!
