Hello, I am using Sim City 4 (no expansion, just Sim City 4) on my 24" intel iMac. In the region view mode, the large cities are not displayed correctly (they look quite awful). I have included a screen shot for viewing purposes. Is there anyway to correct this? 24" intel iMac 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 2 GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT 256 MB Mac OS X 10.4.9 Thanks, Jesse

I went to an old region I created on my previous computer (where no problem occoured). I opened on of the large cities, and then exited. The problem then started to occur with that city. If the video card is causing this, is it possible to fix it?

The picture you included shows a partially rendered city with the high resolution problem.  Rendering a map at more than 1024 x 768 causes this problem.  I think after the render, you can run at high res if you wish.

I reduced the image quality severely so that it would post nicely. I am running on whatever the largest resolution available is--I cannot remember the dimmensions at the moment. However, this resolution is not the same as my computer's standard resolution (1920x1200). I don't understand your response about the rendering. Jesse

Jesse, this is a legacy game, quite old at time of development.  High resolution screens above 1024 x 768 were not much around, so no effort was made to test using them.  The result is that you get these funny bars if you run that way.

When you want to render a city, change the game resolution to 1024 x 768, open the game and do the render.  Close the game, and use your usual method of getting the resolution you generally use.  To get the game to run in 1024 x 768 make a short cut with this as the command line.

    "C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -intro:off -f -r1024x768

The options after the final quote say: Turn of the EA movie, full screen, resolution 1024 x 768.

If you are using a MAC, I suspect the command line may be slightly different.  This is for a PC.

That does fix the problem. I had the same issue. However, when I go back to a different resolution, the large zone appears as a blank green square when I go back to the region view. Does this happen to everyone, or is it just a select few of us?
