Advanced Research Center question

apparently it has a +50 yimby affect to commercial, and a -50 nimby affect for residential, and 150k pop cap relief for IHT, so i decided to dump it in the job zone, which is a strip about 12 tiles wide right down the centre of my town

prob is, when i look at desirability graphs, EVERYONE (even commercial) hates this area, its a bright red block in an all bright green area, and its radioactive.

if these yimby affects are happening, im not seing them, or im not looking at it corectly

if you look closer you will notice that bright red block is only where the research center is.

Yeah, but is it a bad thing?

Or is it just people saying they dont want to live IN that building

the problem with that facility is the fact that it produces nuclear waste, wich makes the local demands drop dramatically... all you need to do is create 2 or 3 tiles space around it 2.gif

Yes, it is definitely worth it.  Put it in a park at the University campus, with some trees and other amenities around it.  Only the ground it occupies is hot.

YIMBY = yes in my back yard

NIMBY = not in my back yard

it basically refers to effects certain lots/rewards have on different zones. going back to the original post, the advanced research center has a NIMBY effect on residential, meaning people don't want that research center very near their homes (hence the "not in my back yard"). however, the research center has a supposed YIMBY effect on commercial, meaning that commercial zones do want the research center close by (hence the "yes in my back yard).
