I downloaded a map of New York off the STEX and was creating my beautiful Manhattan and preparing to start my next CJ when, rudely, my computer sort of froze whilst saving then the city flashed up several times (similar view to when you are loading the city) with all neon colours then when it exited to region there just a blank space and you could not click on it and no matter what I did it didn't come back! This has never happened to me before and I am still mortified! I can kind of remember how it went but will take a long, long time to resurrect it! :-( Has anybody else experienced this?

Alas, it sounds like a corrupt save.  If so, your city is lost.

I always recommend taking a back up of the regions folder on a regular basis.  If you don't have one, you have no recovery point.  Sounds like something interrupted the system at a critical point.  What do you have running in the background?

I had the same problem once. The city looks like its a flat tile, but when you go back in it has all your buildings. The automata on the roads weren't working and the bridges weren't there. I had to rebuild the bridges and redraw every single road for the automata to come back. It did the same thing you described, but I think I was lucky because I still have the city. Try going back in it.
