Getting Back In

Hello.

I was once a relatively active member in the SimCity Community, but due to other events I had to leave.

I also left SimCity due to a million frustrations, including mod troubles and general slowdown. Now, I'm going to attempt to get back into SimCity than ever before. It was rather greedy of me to download hundreds of mods only for the "look", such as seeing the type of highway in my very own city in my SimCities. I came back to see exciting new projects in the works, such as TLA, Portland, Disney, new NAM, Roadgeeks, and others.

In this "relaunch", I must consider that amassing mods is a bad idea, usually those that do are using it for showcase purposes (form over function, so to speak) and/or using a really fast computer. In this "relaunch", I'd like to also change my username "LivingInThePast" to something more pedestrian (and cooler!). Something that can appear on a STEX download. Preferably, I'd like to change it myself, or perhaps make a new sign-in name. At the very least, I could change my avatar.

I'd also like to give to the community what I took. I have grand plans of BATs, single-track railroads, and other stuff but the status is "exists on paper" (or maybe not even that). See, I have a Mac, and 3D software would be out of my budget. So making a BAT set even for my humble town is beyond question. I would like to know a way I could make something on the STEX that people could use. How hard are textures to make? Maybe I can design a classic skin for the GLR. But don't tell me "a good way to contribute is donating money and receiving a FREE collection!" I want to do something else. What I would like is a list of the other SimCity places, and other stuff.

If I get rejected because of my post count and my beliefs I am going to relaunch as a newbie. So, what do you think?

Hang in as your old self.  You have contributed things in the past, so why give them up?

As for your previous plug in mania, if that is over, then I advise a clear off, re-installation, and start over.  I did it recently, and am a lot happier.

Thanks, but aside from some input on the RHW thread, I don't think I've made anything helpful.

I downloaded a Money Tree lot and the NAM. And now I'm off to play SimCity 4!
