First time modding help

Hi there Simtropolis, this is my first post and I am sure this might be a oft asked question but I can't seem to find the answer! I want to download custom buildings and road tiles for use in my SC4 game. First off, can I just download the items and put them in the plugins folder and they will show up? Secondly, if this is not the right way to do things, what else do I need to do/download in order to use previously created buildings and add ons such as the NAM transportation mods. Thanks!

First you need to have SC4 Rush Hour or SC4 Deluxe and every custom content stuff should work. Second, you should have the EP1 Update and the BAT Update from simcity.com. Third, before you download something read the description or the readme and look for dependencies. If you are missing one, a brown bic will probably sho up. Good Luck

I've been able to find the Ep1 update, but I can't seem to find the BAT update. Do you mean that I just have to download the BAT editor from the simcity website. Sorry for all the basic questions! Thanks

You need the "BAT Update" in order to see nightlights on custom buildings. You won't need to download the BAT for it, but it is available on the same page: http://simcity.ea.com/coolstuff/bat/index.php

The 14.4 MB Simcity 4 Update is located on the left of that page.
