Hey guys, not sure if anyone around here even still remembers me, but basically I guess I was at one time a pretty productive member of this community.  I made things like the first airport packs, some top downloaded lots, and then on to some top downloaded bats and mods.  At one time I think i was like the second most downloaded member.  Long story short I went off to college, life got hectic and well its summer 2 years later and im bored and debating whether to install SC4 back on my system.

So anyways i hope the community is doing well, seems simtropolis is still doing great things, congrats on that dirk.

Ok so the point of this post is this, I desperately want to start a new CJ, but i dont have a clue as to where to begin with plugins, mods, bats, and terrain stuff.  So I was wondering if someone here with a pretty organized robust plugins folder could maybe send something my way?  In exchange I have a few 3d models ive been creating over these last few years that would make some pretty sweet bats, i just dont have the time to render them.

So anyways guys could anyone volunteer?

Hi Joerg good to see you back! I liked your CJ's back in the day.

Best option I think if you're starting afresh might be to get the STEX collections CD which has all the best of the STEX plugins on it, with people's plugin folder weighing in at multiple gigabytes these days i'n not sure about the feasibility of send it. Anyway good to have you back, I look forward to any new CJ's 4.gif

Thanks guys, its crazy to look back on my stuff now and see how bad it all is compared to what is being produced.

As far as the plugin stuff goes, normally i would jump on the stex cd but its not the bats and stuff im worried about, i need the mods and that kind of stuff.  Like im totally lost as to how to get all the new trees, rocks, terrains, euro roads, culdasacks, roundabouts, and all that other crazy stuff.  It seems to be dispersed everywhere over the net.

So let me rephrase my question, basically i need the essential plugins that change game play mechanics, transit stuff, and the terrain eye candy.  Im guessing all that would probably total in around 30 megs, maybe a 10 minute transfer.  I just remember getting all that crap up to date was such a pain back in the day, and with me still trying to figure out how to get the rush hour patches to install i am beginning to lose hope. lol.

I hope to start a new region pretty soon, like tonight actually, i just need to get everything together.  Btw what is this new terrain editor thing ive been seeing?  It looks pretty interesting.

Joerg! Welcome back! I do remember you (though you not likely me 2.gif ). Your golf pack is gold.. I'm still using that one!

As for plugins.. if you want a complete set, I gotta echo the frog, get the STEX Collections. Filled with all sort of goodies, as well as the dependencies. If you're looking to start out fresh on your own, get the NAM for sure, bridge height mod, those sorta goodies. For BATs, just scour the STEX and grab what you like. There's so much on there now, I don't even know where to begin suggesting. Check out Pegs site and sc4devotion as well, as I think they each have BATs exclusive to their respective exchanges.

Hope to see you around for a while! 4.gif

Edit- The terraformer lets you terraform the region as a whole, before you go into SimCity. You then import it in and voila! It's all there! Wonderful little program.

Welcome back.  I think you should probably install the game again.  If you need entertainment beyond that provided by your social life, that is.

So install the game with Rush Hour, do the updates from the SC site, then get the NAM for openers.  From there you are definitely on your own.  There is just too much stuff to even try to direct an old hand like you.

Bad news guys, looks like my copy of rush hour has a scratch or something on it becuase it keeps getting held up on one of the dat files.  I am working on and alternate means of obtaining the file i need, so hopefully thats pulls through.  Kind of ironic that i would never think of pirating a maxis game and then the stupid disc doesnt work.

Welcome back Joerg! Hope you can get your CD to work again so we can see your City Journals again! It is awesome to see another member come back to Simtropolis, I hope others follow in your trend 4.gif *cough*NDEX*cough*. A lot has happened since you left (the BSC fallout, NDEX fallout, and the entrance of BLaM as well as many other groups). It is great to just see someone that I remember from back when I joined Simtropolis. Maybe one day we can get back to the more simple days of the past. Oh and hit me up on MSN when you can, I'll try and get you up on the latest and greatest of BATs, Mods, ect...

    Edited, Mr. C.

    Standby.

Great to see a legend back to the community.

"basically i need the essential plugins that change game play mechanics, transit stuff, and the terrain eye candy"

play mechanincs --> check the mods section in this site

transit stuff ---> you need the NAM as already mentioned

terrain eye-candy --> For terrain mods, search the STEX for cycledogg. For plopable trees and rocks, check also for Cycledogg, Goldiva and Sorchin in the STEX.

this search may also help: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?page=1&keyword=plop&type=all

finally, you can find more plopable stuff under my user at the SC4Devotion LEX.

    I hope this helps.

I am glad to see you back, and I hope you can recover that .dat file 2.gif

Dat file recovered, but for the life of me i cant remember my username over at simcity.com so not sure how not having some of the patches will effect me.  Wow i honestly had forgotten how complex this entire game had gotten, Ive not even opened a city yet and my plugins folder is already over a gig.  I seem to remember mountains of compatibility issues, so im hoping i just get lucky because this is ridiculous.  Expect my first CJ to be Tengaire, should be pretty close to my classic style, think Trinity, Antioch, Modena, and i dont even remember the others.

You really need those patches.  After all of this, you might be well advised to go and buy a copy of SC4Deluxe, and reregister.  This will get you your fixes, give you a real back up (You don't have to install it).  Try your local discounter (e.g. Wal-Mart).

Meh i went ahead and went over to work (BestBuy) and picked a copy up with my discount.

Anyways i need immediate help, I have a region going and all that good stuff, but i seem to be running into some problems, first and foremost wow i had forgotten how slow this game really is.  Im running an AMD X2 4200+ @ 2.8GHz and 2gigs of memory plus 2 6600GTs in SLI and the freaking game still runs slower than welll... you know.  Am i missing something here?  Last time i played i had like half that computing power and i remember it being slow but damn.

Oh and the other thing im looking for is there used to be a mod that allowed the god mode brushes to be modified in size.  I need that dat file becuase planting an entire regions worth of trees the old fashioned way just might not cut it.

So last but not least, my  next post should be in the CJ section so hope you guys all check it out.  Thanks again for getting me back up to speed.
