U-Drive-It

I just got Deluxe after owning Vanilla for years.  I noticed how the U-Drive-It feature dramatically changes the rewards. Back in vanilla you had to work hard to get high populations to get them and now you just have to do a bunch of U-Drive-It missions to get rewards that usually require large populations. I was just wondering if people felt it was "cheating" to get rewards this way or not. Or what your opinions are on how U-Drive-It affects gameplay?

Agreed - it's not cheating. It's part of game play.

Back in the day, when I used to try to make city's with bloated populations and tall buildings, u-drive it missions were my main source of income. The funny thing is that with my discovering of Simtropolis, and learning the cheat codes for SC4, I changed my style of gameplay to the point that I never have to use the cheats to keep a city alive! I also don't need to do u-drive it missions too!

One last thought: some of the u-drive it missions unlock rewards that are impossible to get in the game as per the unmodified release(s). The central rail station comes to mind first...

I play it only once in a blue moon when I am bored. I think its cheating because some of the tasks are so easy (as long as you have a simple road network) but that's just me.

I never do the missions I barely ever use it only for shots in CJ's and a bit of fun but not for the missions. When I first heard about it when the original SC4 came out I though it would be very good - It was a good idea just not as good as I thought it would be.

if they include it in sc5, it should be following it from behind like car racing games and such. just my opinion.

Well, I find it cool to drive around and look at the pretty mods, however, if you add too many, or if you add the city's big, the FPS plummets, and it's unfun.

It's not cool if you have a ferry station, because it won't cross through ferries.

Godzillaman - thats what I thought it would be like in the first place and not a birds eye view but still. And there are quite a few glitches and problems with U-Drive it - especially glitches with bridges
