need major help-new to the game

i just got rush hour.  i played sim city 3000 and 2000, not simcity4 tho.  i find it hard to maintain a city.  when it starts gettin big, pple have no jobs.  i keep obliteratin the cities and try to fix it but i cant.  i moved the residence and commercial closer to the industry.  i even built 3 seperate industry zones throughout the map but still a lotta sims w/ no jobs.  anyone know how to deal with this?

and wat to do w/ avenues?  theres a lot of traffic in my city so i wanted to build an avenue for the roads instead of streets, but i was told not to do this.  dont know why, the traffic dataview goes from red to green.  is it cuz sims have to take the "long way" to get to their homes?

last but not least...MONEY!!!!!!   how the hell does one profit more than 100 for a long time?  ive gone at the most 1500 but keeps goin down and eventually get in debt.  then i build more R zones but same thing happens.

i read a walkthru on the game but i can only getta 1000 profit readin it.  sims still had no jobs, major traffic that started to make pollution.  i start out in hard mode and i dont cheat.  i like the challenge   but this one might be too much.  any help will be appreciated.  zank you

It's hard to start a city at first but you'll soon get the hang of it. If you have the demand for it try zoning for some mid-high wealth commercial office and that should get the income you need from the tax. If you don't have the demand just keep making more R$, R$$ and R$$$ until you do (you should get about

As for the No Jobs part, you probably only have to many R$$$ & R$$'s in your city. The game is a bit flawed here and tryes to build to many rich sims, leaving half of the offices vacant, and half of the rich sims without any jobs, sollution to this is less richies and more workers ^__^

Traffic problem, Avenues are good, just make sure you have intersections every now and then(like every 6th tile or so) so that people can turn on them. Also try setting up a decent (and working) motorway system(by forcing people to use the motorways instead of other roads). Also try iplementing Busses, they are by far the most cost-friendly form of transportation. once you start getting a budget thats a lot into the greens you can start investing in subways. Rail, EL and Monorail can also be highly efficent, ut it takes some trial and error to get the usage high enough.

Budget, In short, you want to micromanage all deficts(Health, Education etc) so they allways are just above capacity, so your not paying for the excess, non used, capacity. Tolling those Motorways which your forcing people to take will add a few simoleons too(and causing an increas in Mass Transit usage = more simoleons for you aswell as less traffic problems). Dense zones allways bring in more money than medium or light ones(once the correct buildings grow), and there easier to give sufficent Utilities so as to increase their wealth(dont forgett that you still need some of those poor people, they are the foundation of any city, you wont see a city IRL without Clerks, Cleaners, Constructionworkers, Busdrivers etc.

daam, i no this game has mods but theres so many...over 10 pages?  i wish this game came out last year instead of 3 years ago, this is gonna be a long process, do i even need all those mods?  or most of them?  or do i need some of them?

actually more than 95% are the R$, my funding for school and health is very low tho, i think one of the problems is that i expand whenever my profit drops to 100-300, but i dont increase the land value or funding, i dunno wat the problem is, but even if i increase the health and school funding i dont think more pple will come...btw, pple started ABANDONING my city...C and R only,always got I demands, really frustrating...my population went from 45 to 30 to 25 to 37...so inconsistent, im like "yes i have 1200 profit, no now it 200" makes me go insane

Simcity 4 is set up to interact with neighboring cities. The first thing I do when starting a new region is to start up all the cities around where I am going to start the first city. In a city near your start up city set up an industrial zoned city and let it run. Stop and go back to your first city and let it run. If your road connection is close to the industrial city your sims well start to go there to work. Stop and start another city and make it just commercial. Start it and let it build itself,stop and go back to your first city;let it run and sims well also start going there to work. If your start on a region map near a spot where 4 cities all connect you can get four cities of different types all going and feeding off each othere. This also keeps you busy going between all the cities and slowly building them all up. If you keep sims from living in these othere cities you don't have to provide health and education and police in those cities thus your profits start growing in those cities.For general garabage control for all these cities I would put a landfill at the far side of your residential city and then as they demand it set up deals with the othere cities to sell you there garbage. Just some ideas have fun.

if your a cheater which isnt a bad thing (i do) then you can download a 1X1 small plaza that gives you like 4 billion a month so that you can get the feel of the game
