Game Freezes

i installed sc4 again after a while not playing it.

installing  and updating goes smooth without any problems.

but when i start playing the game freezes up and i cant alt+tab out of it i have to reset my computer.

Edit: i also tried the 4GB swap file trick but it didnt help

please help me im deperate

We can't help you much because it would be flying in a dense set of clouds.  Please tell us:

1. What version of SC4 your are running (SC4, Rush Hour, Deluxe)
2. What operating system you are running including the service pack level
3. What machine you are running:
   1. CPU and Speed.  Overclocked?
   2. RAM size
   3. Graphics Card and driver version
   4. Sound Card and driver version
   5. Current Virtual Memory sizes
   6. Size of Plugins folder

Meanwhile, run dxdiag from the run box and see if it finds any problems.  Also, if you haven't done any disk system maintenance lately, then:

1. Run Disk Cleanup on the SC4 Drive
2. Run the Defragmentation Tool on the same drive

If you suspect any disk trouble, set the flag to physically check your disk (CHKDSK) and boot.

A hang in the middle of the game initialization can easily be your sound driver.
