Wow, a magnitude 7.6 is a big deal. Tsunami warnings and watches are common now after big-scale earthquakes such as this one in the South Pacific. Hopefully those affected by it in the Solomon Islands are alright.

Australia this morning was put on Tsunami alert right along the East Coast. which is from Queensland - Tasmania here is a map
The red dots you will see how far it is
It is now believed that four people have died. in the Solomans.
and the threat of a Tsunami on the Coast has now eased.

The Bureau Of Meteorology has said that the threat has eased because Willis Island did not see a difference in water, when the wave was supposed to hit at 9:30am this morning.
Tasmania is still on alert at 12:30

People in across Northern Queensland were told to go to higher ground.
While the South - Eastern part of Queensland, New South Wales, and Tasmania, not known if Victoria as well. but they were told to leave the beach.

Heh. According to the report, there was no official tsunami warning. The earthquake itself was the warning.
