Welcome to my first CJ in a long while and my rebuke onto the Simtropolis scene. I first started Helmskirk after I was flooded in September and it has grown into something I am very proud of. The original city has now filled out into the whole region which is cool and this is my new City Journal to show it off.

The basic idea behind Helmskirk is just an ordinary British city in about the place of Leeds or Harrogate. It is as UK themed as you can get on Simcity and i have tried very hard to try and introduce British planning techniques like bypasses, motorways, industrial estates, office parks, bus stations and the like.

So .... here goes.

Banner-1.jpg

Waven.jpg

Helmskirk is located within the county of Waveny which is located in northern Britain. It is at the heart of the industrial Midlands and in close proximity to Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool and London.

helm.jpg

The city of Helmskirk is one of five districts in the county. The others are mainly rural. Helmskirk is by far the most heavily populated.

This is an aerial view of the major part of the region. You can see Helmskirk in the east and the smaller town of Hember in the west. You can also see the extent of farming and the suburbs of Helmskirk.

Here is a clearer aerial view of the city showing the district's names. You can see the airport and industrial area in the north. The city centre in the east, the suburbs to the west and the industrial estates in the south.

nb This is an old shot and the city centre is much more developed now and there are more trees and parks around and less dilapidation.

GingerBlokey has emerged from the off topic shadows! The detail is excellent in this CJ, if I may say so myself. The contrast and sharpness in the images really shows off the detail in the BAT's: especially St. Mark's Cathedral, Old Town, and Palmer's Dept. Store.

I love the way you have mixed old with new, and your markets.

Very realistic of a Great British City.

Wow, very crisp and clear.  I love the city designing.  Very creative!

Oh, btw, the title says Helsmkirk...when I first saw it I was like: "And how on earth do you pronounce that..."
