Ferry terminals that doesn't work properly

I got two ferry terminals within the same cityborder, one on the mainland, and one on an island that I wanted to connect to the mainland with a ferry-connection. The problem is that the ferry is going to the neighbouring city, even though that city doesn't have a ferry terminal at all. It seems like that the game can't find both terminals. Only one is working (the one on the island).

Did anyone experience this, and know what to do? I've tried deleting the terminals and build them again, but doesn't seem to work. Why does my ferry take the cars to another city, that doesn't even have a terminal?

I am having similar trouble with ferries myself. In an earlier region I had a lot of problems with ferries and have abandon them to this point. I have had success with a passenger only ferry but I only had two terminals on the same map. I wish I know how the ferry system worked having many different terminals in different cities in the region.

I know I haven't answered your questions but I am having all the similar problems and wish their was a omni-bus article on how to make these bloody ferries work properly!!!!

A possibility is that your ferry is blocked by land. Ferry boats requires that the distance between the island and the mainland is 1) unobstructed by low bridges and 2) deep enough water. A way to test it is to use the UDP feature, select the ferry, and try to go from one ferry port to the other. Most of the time you will discover a hidden underwater elevation variation which will sink your ferry-- that is the culprit to the ferry port not working.

Most of the time (especially if you have a water connection to other cities) you don't end up seeing a whole lot of ferries serving the island. Try to do a route query to tell how many if any ferries work.

i have the same problem. One ferry for I zone. One for R zone. But people from the R zone go with the ferry to nowhere to Simnation (because in other Regions i dont have Ferries). But If I raise the terrain level of that "nowhere" route my sims go to the I zone. I think this is a bug. Somebody knows how to force my sims to use certain route without affecting the appearance of my terrain ?
