Avenue Median Textures

Searched about, but couldn't find an answer for this....

    Ok...

In my current game, I was setting up a realistic and organic city, with dusty little rail stops and farm communities streching through a ENORMOUS map, with real urbanisation to come later (this kind of growth leads to a more realistic road grid IMHO... as lazy little towns become the new Manhattan they have to learn to live with a crazy road grid downtown that was originally laid based on where the farms endede... 1.gif).

Anyway, I stretched an avenue through one of the busier agricultural towns, and noticed that the median/outer texture of the avenue was dirt (like you get under the rails) throughout the length of the avenue. Even when it bordered downtown with residential areas or even high-wealth commercial. If I set up a section that only touches a seperate zone-type it will get the texture for that zone, but only the majority zone. Roads, on the other hand, will change grid-by-grid to conform to the neighboring zone...

Has it always been this way and I just didn't notice? Is this something I did? Is there a way to fix it?42.gif

All I want is for my avenues to have the high-wealth median in high-wealth areas, the medium-wealth median in medium-wealth areas, the low-wealth median in low-wealth areas and the agricultural median only in agricultural areas... Having a dirt-bordered avenue in the middle of my pretty little town is just a drag... 34.gif

Thirdly, are you using Trolca's street mod?

I'm also having that problem and it is very annoying.
dhoppeii - where can i find that mod as all i could find is Trolca's Dirt street mod?
    thanks in advance

Edit: I'm actually having a different problem...When i attempt to build an avenue, as i want to lay it down i just see a dirt line and after i take my finger off the mouse, where the avenue should be there is nothing..after a few seconds i see the line on the middle of the avenue but not the actual street...sounds like a graphic bug or something..anyone encountered this problem?

It's always been that way for as long as I can remember. I think the avenues will use the majority wealth level texture for the whole length of avenue. Perhaps an intersection with another avenue will force it to change textures on each side? I'd have to check.

What I usually do is bulldoze a one-tile length of avenue where I want the texture to change, then draw in one-way roads to fill the gap. That forces the game to use the most appropriate texture on each side. If you do it in strategic places, the arrows from the one-way roads look like the ones some highway departments paint on expressway lanes around intersections to remind drivers which way they're supposed to be going.

The PEG MTP No Roadway Junk mod might also be useful (or not) depending on what you're trying to achieve. It's a useful mod to have lying around on disk somewhere anyway.

BTW, I do the same thing as you - start with rural farm towns and let them grow organically. If the farms follow the contours of the land to start with, it gets a pretty realistic effect as the town grows. 29.gif

    Good luck!
